Hawkgirl is the reincarnated spirit of Chay-Ara. Born on Thanagar, she gained the rank of lieutenant in her world and was subsequently sent to Earth on a mission, but during her stay, she grew to love Earth and care for its inhabitants, eventually becoming known to the people as the superheroine Hawkgirl.
Do you mean Hawkman? If not, Hawkgirl hasn't appeared yet, but we will be seeing a version of her Kendra Saunders i believe, in Earth 2 issue 3 or 4 and from there she will join the team.
Ok so Hawkman is still on New-Earth and Hawkgirl is on Earth-2 ? shouldent they be on the same Earth ?
They should be. I've had this feeling that there will be a New Earth/Earth-2 crossover ever since I saw that Hawkwoman is in another universe. I think there'll be some sort of story about how their love is so strong that they'll somehow cross universes to be with each other. It seems I may be correct, given what's been shown in the FCBD 2012 book by DC.
There's actually supposed to be another winged female showing up on Earth Prime as shown on the cover of Savage Hawkman 13. So Earth 2 Hawkgirl might remain completely independent of Hawkman.
Since I view this New52 as just being an alternate earth that'll just be pushed back onto one of the unused numbers, I have no problem with splitting up the Hawks, for example having a version of Kator Hol with the Golden age Hawkgirl, a Carter Hall version with a Hawk female from Thanagar. Maybe even make Swift the Earth-50 version of Hawkgirl, & team her up with a Cater & a Thanagarian on some earth.
Even Black Condor could be made into an alternate version of Hawkman.
Pre flashpoint, Kendra Saunders Hawkgirl had white skin and brown hair. New 52 reboot has hawkgirl on earth 2 as Kendra Munoz Saunders, a black hispanic (black skin, brown hair). On the main earth, you have Shayera Thal who has been rebooted and seems to be still a red head.

Liefeld has already gone back to his own properties at extreme studios at Image. Most of the Hawkman stuff is probably from the editors or the dc architects. In the New 52, writers don't seem to have much freedom and just follow the dictation from the editors or dc architects. The rebooted Shayera Thal looks ok to me except for the bikini costume and the New 52 Hawkman is more powerful merged with nth metal.
