Kitty Kelly & Yankee Girl: Gwandanaland Comics #744 -- The Full Series Of Two (or More) Exciting Golden Age Characters!
50 pages
SPOILER ALERT – This will either tell you more than you want to know about Kitty Kelly and Yankee Girl, or confuse you even more!
Kitty Kelly first appears in Punch Comics #1 & 2 as an air hostess with a thirst for adventure, which of course she gets! Her second adventure was reprinted in Captain Flight #6, and then in Captain Flight #8we are introduced to Yankee Girl, costumed hero in the typical Golden Age vein. No mention is made of Kitty Kelly, and the two ladies bear no real resemblance to each other.... but in Captain Flight #9 we have “Kitty Kelly, Yankee Girl” – no longer air hostess or costumed hero, but daring member of the air force. It is hard to tell where one Kitty Kelly ends and another begins or which Yankee Girl might be (or might not be) which Kitty Kelly! Then in Red Seal #17 we again have Yankee Girl in costume, albeit a different costume and different hair color than in Captain Flight #8, but with the same daytime job. Finally over a decade later a different Yankee Girl arrives for a short visit in Dynamic Comics #23 and Danger #16 – once again in costume, but not Kitty Kelly. So, we have two Yankee girls and at least two Kitty Kellys, with some overlap but nothing is 100% certain.
Ah, who cares ---- it's a lot of fun, so read on!
This is a trade paperback collecting Kitty Kelly and Yankee Girl stories from Punch Comics #1-2, Captain Flight #6, 8-9, Red Seal #17, Dynamic Comics #23, and Danger #16.
