Rusty Ryan - The Paul Gustavson Stories: Volume 1: Gwandanaland Comics #678 --- The Leader of the Boyville Brigadiers -- The Stories From Feature Comics #32-73

RUSTY RYAN, created by Golden Age master Paul Gustavson, during World War II donned the patriotic costume and battled for freedom and justice. After the war he continued his adventure across the globe, appearing in over 100 issues of Feature Comics. He was accompanied by the Boyville Brigadiers, a group of equally-patriotic youths committed to protecting freedom and justice (and ensuring comic sales by featuring adolescent boys)! RUSTY RYAN'S stories were exciting, but many of his characters were caricature stereotypes and would be considered racially and culturally offensive today (so, fair warning). These are the stories drawn by Gustavson himself, considered the best of the series, in two thrilling volumes. This first book contains his initial run with RUSTY RYAN, in Feature Comics #32-73.

Please note: This "Mystery Comics" cover is the original Gwandanaland Comics #678. However, the book is only printed if it's ordered, and the publisher has claimed that they have no indication that any copies ever sold. So, there are likely no copies in existence. The Complete Mystery Comics collection has since been released as Gwandanaland Comics #1466.

Never heard of Rusty Ryan before? That's okay, neither had I. When I first started looking at the Gwandanaland covers on Facebook, the cover to this book caught my eye every time I ran across it for two reasons. First, the "Rusty Ryan" logo stands out, and second, because Rusty's costume looks remarkably like Captain...
