    THE MAN IN BLACK TREASURY

Gwandanaland Comics #181 - The Largest Collection of the Man In Black in Print - Bar None! Featuring the Work of Bob Powell!

    152 PAGES - MYSTERY / HORROR

NOTEABLE: Some yellowed pages and dark scans, but improved to the best possible appearance. Overall a great-looking book! We believe that this collection contains the complete public domain MAN IN BLACK....not quite ready to blast that on the cover though. Another company has a book they call complete, but they refer to just the 4-issue 1950s series.

He referred to himself sometimes as Death, or Fate or Kismet – he was the teller of the story and sometimes a participant. He was host and actor, impassioned observer and also at times judge and jury. THE MAN IN BLACK was a shadowy figure, but well-dressed, and an entertaining narrator of adventures, misadventures and slightly macabre tales. In the 1940s he appeared in a number of different titles including Green Hornet, Terry and the Pirates, All New Comics and others (see page 2 for complete list). In the 1950s he had his own short-lived series. In the 80s and 90s revivals failed to take hold, but that could be because they did not have the skilled Bob Powell holding the pen! This is the largest and most complete MAN IN BLACK in print, bar none!

NOTE: This is a Man In Black Character Collection - it is not a collection of complete issues from his 4-book series. We are publishing that collection, but this contains Man In Black stories only, not back-up features. If you are looking for the complete issues from his 1950s run, let us know.

We added the MAN IN BLACK story from Tally-Ho Comics. it's debatable whether this is the same character as the slightly later MIB; however, the premise is the same, and so for the sake of completeness we've put it in.

We have one more story to find --- from Strange Story #1 (1946) ---- this will make the Public Domain MAN IN BLACK complete.
