The Complete Whiz Comics: Volume 1: Gwandanaland Comics #1601 -- The World's Mighiest Mortal In His First Stories! -- Includes Pages from the Rare Unreleased First Issue!

280 pages

An entire generation thrilled to the comic adventure of Captain Marvel. Unlike that “other” Golden Age hero, young comic readers could connect with Captain Marvel because he was from Earth, and he was also Billy Batson – just an American boy like them. Saying the name of the mystic SHAZAM transforms Billy into The World's Mightiest Mortal. Captain Marvel enjoyed a long run (though woefully short) in comics, and Gwandanaland Comics is bringing the largest collection of Captain Marvel ever in print!

  • THE COMPLETE WHIZ COMICS (All 155 Complete Issues)
  • THE COMPLETE CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES (All 150 Complete Issues)
  • THE COMPLETE MARVEL FAMILY (All 89 Complete Issues)
  • THE COMPLETE CAPTAIN MARVEL (Every Captain Marvel Story from these great series', and any other appearances we can track down!

This book contains pages from the unreleased "ashcan" edition of what would eventually become Whiz Comics with issue #2 --- the publishers attempt to secure copyright and trademarks. It is said that only three original copies of this comic exists, so to have any pages for you at all....well, Gwandanaland Comics would never pass that up!

The early issues of Whiz Comics are often taken from microfiche, which is a lower quality image. We are always upgrading our books with the best images available, but when it comes to rare books like this, sometimes we have to take what we can get.

Please Note: In September, 2018, upon discovering that not as many of the Marvel Family issues were in the public domain as they believed, the publisher immediately and voluntarily pulled this book from their catalog. For some reason, the copyrights were renewed on issues #3-4, so they are not yet public domain.

Facebook retirement notice, October 17, 2018:

For reasons that I am sure you are all too familiar with, we have to remove our COMPLETE WHIZ COMICS V1-3 from sale this weekend. Some of those early issues were renewed by Fawcett, and of course it will not be complete, not even close.

What we're going to to is take the high-quality issues form the public domain and make a great WHIZ COMICS TREASURY. It will be without fiche (like our new Captain Marvel) -- since we cannot be complete we'll at least be beautiful. As we are able to significantly upgrade both Whiz and Captain Marvel we will exchange old versions.

I held off on this, in the hopes that I could salvage the series as is, but of course that was ridiculous because even one issue out would make it no longer complete.

Sorry, guys...

Facebook solicitation, October 17, 2018:
