Really really interested to see how Karen handles this role and so so excited for the movie in general.

Yea I've never seen Karen act mean before so this should be interesting lol but she looks awesome and yea, this looks pretty great and I'm baffled but loving that this movie is even being made.
Am I the only one that noticed Star Lord was convicted of a sex crime? its at 1:29 in his criminal record.
As for those who are complaining about the comedy, there is a talking raccoon and a walking tree, how can you possibly take that seriously?
@gor724: Yea I seen it, did you see what it said next to it?
@kingwillie: Yea, I wanna read up on them more now. I'm sure between now and the time it comes out I can catch up on the current series and maybe some of the older series. Ready for the movie!
The "bunch of a-holes" line is still in the trailer, which I love. That was an ad-lib I threw to Peter Serafinowicz on the day we were shooting. He wasn’t sure he wanted to say it – it’s not something British people say – but it works perfectly in the trailer.
The movie has a lot of edgy humour, unusual for a comic book movie. But we were encouraged by Marvel to take risks, so we did.
However, we never wanted the humour to get in the way of the fun or the emotional heart of the film – those things came first.
I will admit when I first heard of this it sounded like the lamest team on the planet. I mean for gods sake there is a tree and raccoon. After seeing this thought I realize how wrong I was. This movie looks absolutely terrific!
@gor724: Yea I seen it, did you see what it said next to it?
Illegal manipulation of Gramasian Duchess. I have no clue what that means.

It means he had sexy time with alien royalty and got done for it.
@crackdown: I think they know what they are doing and it will turn out better that most people may think. People just have to realize that Marvel movies aren't the dark doom and gloom movies that DC has done so well. The mix of comedy works the best for Marvel and for the general audience.
I thought it was an EXCELLENT teaser trailer. Those complaining obviously don't know the source material. The EXACT same sort of humor exists in the GotG comic books. Well done Marvel (again!).
as always, they're going for the comedy route :)
To be fair, not sure how serious it could ever be with a talking tree and racoon side by side lol
you have a point :)
Gunn wrote and directed Slither and Super; it would have been more surprising if there wasn't comedy in the trailer. Some of the reactions may have more to do with the understandable exasperation with the completely frivolous tone phase 2 has established so far with Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and, on the TV side of things, the weekly embarrassment known as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
@cameron83: Have you noticed the book is also a comedy?
@cameron83: Have you noticed the book is also a comedy?
The current series. And besides,it only has some comedic moments here and there.
@jonny_anonymous: didnt say that at all so dont know what you are talking about. i never said anything about changing characters from the comic to the movie even though that is what marvel has done so take that up with them not me
Both Marvel and DC do that. Comics take inspiration from the movies and vice versa. This isn't new. And it's not a bad tactic, really.
Anyway,I agree more with what @jonny_anonymous says
@cameron83: you are speaking as a fan, and even though i am a fan i was speaking for those who are not fans of the book. somethings you got to put your fan love aside and look at things objectively which is what i did. guardians is a tough sale plain and simple talk to some none comic reading people who have seen this trailer
I question how you came to that conclusion. Put my "fan love aside"....when did I say that I was a dedicated fan of the team? I just appreciate them and don't see them as a campy team, especially not as much as you make them sound. But that's a subjective matter,so debating it is pointless.
And "talk to some non comic reading people who have seen this trailer"....um,why exactly? What point will it be to talk to people who know NOTHING about the team based on a movie that, for all we know, can be completely different from the comics.....and just a 2 minute trailer for that matter.
Whether you are a fan of the book or not has nothing to do with your perspective on the tone. Not only that, but the tone is NOT dependent on the team necessarily, the tone is set by the writer that is writing the series. Even when I knew barely anything about the team (besides who was in it and their basic purpose),I never saw them as campy or silly or anything for that matter. I actually respect them as much as I do the Avengers or Justice League or Green Lantern Corps, etc. But again, this is subjective.
Even though...there is a talking raccoon and tree, but again, the tone of the book/series and team is affected by the writer
So the fact that you dismiss my point by thinking that it's blinded by a fan bias amazes me....it's like you took a conscious effort to ignore my post.
@cameron83: i came to my conclusion by talking to people since the movie was announced and being receptive to their thoughts and opinions. its easy for me turn off my thoughts and see through another's eyes. to me when i see the guardians i just see a cool team but lets look at it on paper:a talking tree. a talking raccoon, and two green aliens? sounds ridiculous right? and it will to a lot of people who are going to be new to stuff like this like my friends who's only knowledge of comics are from the movies. everyone isnt as open minded or interested in weird stuff as you or I would and we have to be realistic about that. so its a hard sale, not impossible but though, but marketed right and with enough star power anything can be successful but so far marvel hasnt done that with this project. the biggest stars in the film are voice work so they cant be counted on to carry film. and its cool they want to use lesser knowns so then everything is riding on the marketing. so we will see if when august comes people are so tired of whatever films are out in the summer they are willing to give something totally out the box a try.
i've said my peace. peace be and goddess blessings :)
I think I watched this like 7 times last night. It was so good and refreshing. It's the first I've ever seen a trailer without the really dark and broody music it just fit the tone so well. Plus Ronan choking Drax was pretty epic as well. Star lord looks really awesome. Groot and Rocket are gonna be awesome. Anyway leave it up to comic fans to moan about a 2 minute trailer. Super psyched.
Looks like it will be a fun and enjoyable movie so Im prepared for the internet to piss all over it because new fans apparently hate fun.

Well,I can see your point, man. But I don't think that they're a bad team in any way, especially not trite (however, that may have NOT been what you were saying or implying). It's okay to worry about a team that's more obscure than the Avengers on the big screen (although the Gotg have been around for quite a while, but they're not as popular as the Avengers),but we just have to wait and see for the big screen translation. I mean,it looks promising....
And to be fair, anything "on paper" can just be interpreted as "out of context". I mean,if I told you about a man in his 30s that runs around in a batsuit,I don't think a lot of people would have in mind the awesomeness that is Batman. But look how awesome he is,and how he's respected by even NON comic book readers. So it just depends (in the case of the non comic book readers) his interpretation in the movies/shows. It also depends on how they're handled in comics, too. TL;DR:
"on paper" can be interchangeably said to be "out of context".
Watched the trailer once and I wasn't too into it. Looked at the trailer twice and now I think it may be a good popcorn flick.
@patrat18: i still disagree with the comedic tone ur talking about. Tony stark throwing out a few witty one liners is hardly comedy. I guess it depends on what u consider funny.

"A few"? Iron-man 3 was a action/comedy, Thor 2 couldn't take itself seriously at all. Marvel has been adding comedy in their movies since Ironman 1.
I think it makes sense in the first trailer to do a little bit more explaining and description of the characters. The general public who has no idea who the hell starlord and rocket are will be confused if they suddenly see a trailer with a talking raccoon and tree. Now that they have explained the characters a little bit they can save all the things we want to see for a second trailer and include all of the little things for hardcore fans.
I like that they are using comedy in this movie because it is based on the newest incarnation of the team and the book for guardians right now is generally quite light and humorous.
I will agree that Gamora and Drax looks weird. Not so much Gamoras coloring, but her eyes dont seem to work like they do in the page. And Draxs tattoos could have been handled better. But I think that rocket and groot looking amazing makes up for it!!
Cant wait to see how Yondu, Ronan and Nova Prime look!! Everyone else seems to be generally true to the comics (other than maybe the Nova Corps)
@theacidskull: Is it just Eccleston and Gillan, or is there somebody I've missed?
Having watched CATWS and now seen the trailer for this, I'm super pumped about Marvel films again!
agreed
i am desperately weighting for this movie. i inspired from Chris Pratt so i purchase his maroon jacket wear by him in this movie, if you are also inspired from that movie & want to be a guardian then this outfit will be the final destination. get this once from that link. goo.gl/hWLSpO
