For a while there people were wondering if Iron Man would be a member of the upcoming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY series being written by Brian Michael Bendis and scheduled to hit comic shops on March 27th, and it seems now we have a definitive answer. Marvel recently released the solicit for the first issue and accompanying trading cards giving us a better look at what fans and readers can expect from the series. Check out the trading card images illustrated by artist Steve Mcniven below and let us know if you will be picking up this series next month.

This March, Guardians of the Galaxy #1 launches in style with special limited edition trading cards, ONLY available at select retail shops hosting a launch party! Ug I hate those Stark lights that they seem to put on on almost every piece of tech in Marvel now.

Star-Lord's armor looks weird on that card, however i'll still be picking up #0.1

I will never understand why Marvel gave this book to a writer that even admitted can't write space books and thats why he's setting it on earth. Why didn't they give this book to Hickman?

My love of Rocket and hatred of Bendis makes it difficult for me to decide whether or not to pick this up.

so instead of phyla, moondragon or warlock we get iron man. right....this is strike two along with those hideous armor crap they were wearing. there was nothing wrong with their original gear. at least rocket looks cool

i wonder if marvel will end up cancelling this like nearly every previous version of the guardians of the galaxy,

@Z3RO180: Technically it hasn't happened yet, but in his solo series Tony has decided to explore the universe. I'm assuming eventually he'll be crossing paths/joining the GotG.

From a business standpoint, they're probably using him to give the GotG franchise a rub since they aren't well known to the public and have a big budget movie in production. I wouldn't be surprised to see a post-credits appearance for them in Ironman 3.

@monopolyloser: I just like that w/ the Marvel NOW! initiative, they decided to give females more... "feasible" costumes. Not sure I like the Mass Effect-type armor, but I do appreciate the thought of having female characters not being dressed as extreme sex kittens.

Of course for some characters it's part of their personality (ie Emma Frost), yet for others like Gamora whose a warrior to the core, it makes for sense for her to be dressed in a way that's more conducive to that role.

Ooooo! I hope I get the Cable card! That's the rare one, right? ;)

i only hope this series will not be about Ironman and some dudes...the title is GOTG it better be about them.

Most Likely.... but they're giving it a good shot this time around w/ the Nova comic and the Movie. And honestly... as much as I'm afraid of this --->

Bendis is destroying the cosmic characters. He doesn't understand the characters or the history and just does whatever he wants with no explanation. I've never been so disappointed.

I can see where this is going, Iron Man in the GOTG movie perhaps?

Since when has Gamora worn so much clothing? I suppose it will cause the makeup in the movie to be much more cost effective. Stark should stay on Earf. Sounds interesting but I will probably pass.

I thought I recognized McNiven's pencils for these. Not bad I say!

I'm not fond of the Quill redesign. He's too blond, too clean shaven, and I miss his kickass helmet from the last reboot. Also, Gamora's new costume. Yay that it's no longer just a giant g-string, but they might have gone a little far in the other direction. It just looks bland.

I liked Stark's new armor depicted in the other pictures, not really doing it for me here.

Only thing I'm afraid of is Ironman stealing the spot light. I liked how different GOTG was from all the other marvel teams. Also really hope they waste no time bring back Adam Warlock and Phyla-Vell.

Also I'd love to see Quasar(Wendell Vaughn) on the team because he's become irrelevant after the death of Richard Rider.

Ironman shouldn't not stick around much longer than say 10 issues. I wish it is more of a team-up than being an actual member of the group.
