Is Vin Diesel Groot?
this is a decoy
No, I am a Decoy.
@thegodofthunder: Thank you for the reminder, I agree with your statement. It's been awhile but I vaguely remember him being the Prince and him pissin his father off( I'm probably wrong, my memory isn't that great, but I remember I loved the event). But the point is he's a great character & real dialogue serves him better.
I agree that this would seem like a waste of a big movie star.
Notthat I am a big Diesel fan, but all this hype and hush hush about his meeting with Marvel and now he only provides the voice for a character that is known to say only one phrase?
I mean, come one... thats almost like out of a SNL skit, or something. They cast Diesel for the tree creature, where he has no mo cap to do (since groot should move like a tree and not like a human), we will never see his face or his performance, because he has none and he has only to say one line in a few variations depending on the mood of the scene.
I'm kinda dissapointed...I was expecting Thanos.
I'm pretty sure Benicio Del Toro has that spot.
I though Marvel confirmed that he was in no way part of the MCU and where kinda bemused why he was saying this stuff?
Link?
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios Head, On 'Doctor Strange,' The Mystery Phase 3 Movies And Vin Diesel
That doesn't mean anything more than, "we're not saying anything"

It means about as much as changing his Facebook picture
@thefirstlantern: I totally sold myself on him playin Black Bolt. I think his presence is about as perfect as could be for the role. I am still holding out hope that he will play him one day. If he's only doin voice work for Groot then I see no reason why he still couldn't play the man with the world destroying voice. Bit ironic actually

Del Toro is The Collector.
Works for me.
@thegodofthunder: Groot has been saying "I am Groot" long before Bendis took over GotG. He said it almost exclusively from what I remember during the run of Abbnet and Lannings GotG. They even played with it during War of Kings as Groot was speaking to Karnak and Karnak chastised Starlord, I believe, about Groot speaking a complex language and it only sounded like I am Groot to the unintelligent.
I realize this casting, if it turns out to be accurate, makes sense because of his similar role playing the Iron Giant...but to cast Vin Deisel as anyone in GOTG other than Drax would just upset me. The look they are using for Drax in the film is directly based on Vin Diesel after all! That would feel too much to me like if they had chosen Don Cheadle to be Nick Fury, and then announced that Samuel L. Jackson would be cast as The Falcon.
To be fair, the limited amount of voice-over work he would be doing would presumably come significantly cheaper than a full-on role as Drax, and maybe Marvel knew they could not afford him in more intensive role.
Still looking forward to this overall though. Saw the leaked Comic Con footage, and it seems like half of it is really worryingly bad, while the other half seems to reach the highest watermarks of film-making. Rocket Raccoon and Groot both look amazing in action. I'm going to assume that since it's more or less test footage, that the things I wasn't crazy about will be addressed by the time the film actually opens.
@jonny_anonymous: I have. It's a pretty good film actually. I know Vin Diesel is the voice of the Giant there and he does a good job.
@lvenger: If the ending of Iron Giant doesn't make you a little sad then you have no soul FACT
@jonny_anonymous: Hey it did make me sad. Especially the reference to Superman and all that :P

Yea that and the "dont be a gun" part are the best bits

Such a hearwarming film.
at first I was all like "Vin Diesel better stay away from my marvel!" but I never considered him for the voice of Groot, I would actually be happy with that selection mainly because of Iron Giant.
"Viners, would you be cool with Diesel as Groot or would you rather have him as another character?"
Um, I'd rather just not have him in movies, ever; is that an option? Dude looks like he just got out of the special school. Whenever he delivers a line I think to myself "shouldn't he be wearing a helmet?"

Yes I thought so too, he wouldn't have to talk and he has the physique for the role as well. I think he can still be used hopefully.
Kaitlyn. I just agree... Jose`s posting is impressive, yesterday I picked up a top of the range BMW 5-series from making $8137 this last four weeks and-a little over, ten/k lass-month. this is definitely the easiest job Ive had. I started this 3 months ago and immediately got me over $69 per hour. I use this great link,.... http://www.jobs76.com
