Cosmic Batteries - Never Leave Home Without Them

    No Caption Provided

    THE GOOD

First, I simply love when my favorite super-heroes team-up against my favorite super-villains. This one-shot crossover offers just that. Second, the use and exploitation of cosmic powers in this issue are great - It is always nice to see super-heroes either discover or take advantage of their potential (something that both Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) and Silver Surfer have trouble with at times) - AND - it is always nice to see Silver Surfer used as a cosmic battery. :) Finally, it was nice to see some nice cameos: Galactus, Shalla Bal, Terrax, Cyborg Superman AND see that Thanos was still up to his old tricks!

    THE BAD

What happened to Cyborg Superman? Is he still free running around in the Marvel Universe? The last thing we hear between Silver Surfer and Hal/Parallax is, "...He can be tracked easily enough, if need be...". Then they get into a discussion on how alike they are. I am surprised Hal/Parallax didn't construct a [green] tea set so they could sit down with their dolls. Sorry - I just hate when characters are written as "too introspective" and emotional. To finish off this section of the review - why is it so common that the story setup duration is twice the climax and conclusion? Oh well. BTW, what do you think is in the box at the end?

    THE VERDICT

I am definitely glad that I found the time to stop and read this old issue. It read really fast (unfortunately), had some nice twists and turns and showcased some of the greatest super-characters from both the DC and Marvel Universe. If you have a chance to pick this up, I would recommend you do so. One last "fine point", it had really great coloring. Cosmic adventures usually do, but the greens and blues in this one are really pleasing.

    enJOY!
