Hal Jordan the one that got that name after Sinestro became renegade?

Kyle Rayner, the torchbearer? The one that had to carry the green lantern legacy by himself?

Or Sinestro, he was once the greatest, if he became again a green lantern corp, would he still be the greatest?

Wow - guess that goes to show one man's meat is another man's poison! I really didn't appreciate what DC did to one of its greatest Silver Age characters and couldn't see why Hal Jordan had to become Parallax / Spectre. Having said that I did try some of the Ron Marz Kyle Rayner issues and was quite impressed.

I didn't think Alan was a Green Lantern. Anyways Kyle gets my vote.

I know he's not like the other Lantern's but i still like him more than Kyle.

To me, Kyle's most defining characteristic was his complete unwillingness to give up.

1. When Parallax beat the ever living crap out of the entire DCU, then Kyle is left to fight him alone on Oa, Kyle might not be able to beat him in a fight, but he destroyed a planet (which he didn't expect to survive the explosion of) to stop Hal's plan.

2. In Parallax View Hal just beat Kyle half to death across the city, took his ring, then beat the entire JLA and Superman, Kyle goes after him with a lead pipe because he's not dead yet and he's not going to give up.

3. In the Obsidian Age he willingly lets a Manitou Raven rip out his heart, because that's the only way to win.

4. In Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Parallax when all else fails he stabs Parallax in the eye with a friggin pencil.

5. Being Green Lantern has brought Kyle a lot of pain, he's lost a lot of loved ones... but he never freaking gives up.

Is Hal a better GL? Yes.

Is John smarter than Kyle and just as skilled artistically? Yes.

Is Guy tougher and more badass than Kyle? Yes.

But Kyle will never ever give up, he will fight to the bitter end, no matter what it takes.

Not to say Kyle isn't a damn good Lantern. He's had combat training from Donna Troy, and Orion... Gods taught him how to fight, for a time he was a GOD, and he willingly gave that up... That's willpower that can't be beat!

I like Hal the best, I think he is positively the greatest Green lantern ever.

Third is John,

Fourth is Sodam Yat,

Coin Toss between Kyle/Guy.

The reason i do not like Kyle is because of the fact he could have helped/prevent alot of stuff during the cockups in the DC world, don't get me wrong, he is by far the best ION ever.

Hal is the man. The only thing that any of them have over him is more creatively.

Hal is the best. A guy that can fight, and is one of the most skilled in using the power ring with a extremly level of willpower. I always thought it was cool style of being arrogant but not overconfident, and one that goes into battle no plan looking to find a win during the battle.

Kyle and Jordan are equal firsts.

Hal might be the greatest GL...but Kyle is my favorite of Earth's GLs^^

I've always thought Hal was awesome -- he's the Captain Kirk of the Green Lantern Corps. Kyle is good and all, but the cocky pilot who is almost too stubborn to be beaten, and still has time to seduce every alien he ever meets? Come on!

I'll go a diffrent route with this one. Hal is the greatest of the earth born GL's. But I suppose it will depend on the writer who is truly the greatest of the Corp.
I suppose greatness will depend on the abiloty of the ring bearer, the dedication to the Corp and his sheer willpower

Hal might not be the best in all catergories but he is the most rounded. Where Hal is the most fearless and headstrong of them
Alan not being a member of the Corp stills bears the name and is the truest hero of the group
Guy has the heart and spirit of a warrior, in a dog fight you want Guy as your wingman
John would be the soul ( no pun intended) He believes in what the Corp stands for and the role they play the most
Kyle..Kyle is the heart of the Corp...Kyle was given the mantle of the Last Green Lantern
No one else would have the passion to create a new one, no matter how lame the attempt was
no one would have taken the steps to share the rings

So who really is the Greatest? With all the thousands of planets and Corp members, I think the greatest has yet to be seen

I always liked to think of it as Hal, but I dont know everything about Kyle

The Book of OA clearly says that Sodam Yat will be the greatest Green Lantern EVER....

personally i'd love Kyle to take that page and use it as his toiler paper for the next couple of years, but it's there in continuity if you need it
