    The Story:

The War Of Light begins when the Red Lantern Corps emerge. The Guardians Of The Universe create the Alpha Lanterns and plan to execute Sinestro. The Blue Lantern Corps attempt to recruit Hal Jordan as their leader.

    My Thoughts:

Geoff Johns continues his monumental run on the Green Lantern series he has revitalized since bringing Hal Jordan back to life. Once again Johns plants the seeds for another great plot which started recently. The prophecy of the Blackest Night has been revealed. The Green Lantern Corps is changing and Hal Jordan is unsure how to interpret everything. As Sinestro is sentenced to face his execution Hal Jordan battles his own emotions on the matter that he turns to Carol Ferris for. This is just the tip of the iceberg. With the creation of the Alpha Lanterns, Laira is found guilty of murder and banished to her homeward, no longer a member of the Corps. Johns storytelling abilities shine as he introduces readers to the Red Lantern Corps in a brilliant way. The rage building within Laira consumes her as she's chosen as a member of the Red Lanterns. Great plot twists are delivered that keep you on the edge of your seat and immersed in the story.

The dialogue between Atrocitus and Sinestro was invigorating. Johns wrote each characters superbly. Atrocitus seems like a cool villain already and his corps appear like ferocious foes. I liked the hatred between Atrocitus and Sinestro. Johns fills in readers of their past quarrels and how things got to this point.

The Blue Lantern Corps quickly captured my attention. They may be my new favorite corps. I instantly liked Saint Walker. His whole demeanor attracted me and I enjoyed the way he interacted with Hal Jordan. I look forward to learning more about all the different corps.

The artwork only gets better as the story progresses. It starts off with Mike McKone who contributes great work. Next up was Shane Davis who's work was amazing. I guess they saved the best for last because Ivan Reis finished with a bang. His work was phenomenal. Some of his best work I've ever seen. The splash pages were stunning and the double-paged spread of the Blue Lantern Corps world was incredibly detailed. This book has some of the best artwork this series has seen so far. I can't get over how good the art was. I could just sit and stare at it for hours.

Geoff Johns run on Green Lantern is not overrated one bit. He's breathed new life into these characters, built and expanded this incredible franchise and taken it to new heights. This is just a prelude to Blackest Night which comes shortly after this and which is shaping up to be the comic event of the decade. This comes highly recommended from me.
