Kyle Rayner has assembled the most powerful team in all the universe, selected from the full spectrum of corps. But can he even keep this volatile group together?

The planet of Oa is in ruins, and Ganthet, the last Guardian of the Universe, forges a new ring that he will make sure finds its way into the right hands. On Earth, Kyle Rayner and friends hang out at a restaurant, with Kyle sketching a picture of the waitress to leave as a tip. He explains that the comic strip he's been writing has been cancelled, and has had trouble finding another job in the business. When he leaves, Ganthet appears in the alley, and tells Kyle he's been chosen. Kyle expresses disbelief, until Ganthet's power ring manifests the Green Lantern uniform on Kyle. Ganthet gives the new Green Lantern brief instructions on how to use the power ring, which Kyle picks up on quickly. The flashback ends.

In present day, an agent of the Sinestro Corps in Sector 422 terrorizes a group of Khunds, when his yellow power ring is suddenly revoked. The present Khunds use this opportunity to kill the Sinestro agent. On the planet Krod in Sector 1009, a Red Lantern spews fiery energy onto a city, declaring the residents to be murderers. The Red Lantern is likewise decommissioned from the his Corps, making him drop dead on the spot. In Sector 22, a Star Sapphire is threatening to destroy a ship of space pirates, in order to protect innocent creatures on another nearby ship, when she too is decommissioned from her Corps. Fatality appears, destroying the pirate ship and rescuing the ex-Star Sapphire.

At Times Square, Kyle Rayner rescues a crane from crashing into the street. When speaking to a young Hal Jordan fan, Kyle is approached by power rings of the six other differently-colored Corps - red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo and violet. Fatality, Bleez, Munk and Arkillo (representing the Star Sapphires, Red Lanterns, Indigo Tribe and Sinestro Corps, respectively) appear and require Kyle to take back what he's 'stolen'.

General Notes

Saint Walker and Glomulus appear on the cover only and are not represented in the issue except for one of their Rings appearing at the end of issue along with the others of the seven.

A Cure for GLF 0

Hi, I Dr. CrazyCarl, yes I know that's not my name shutup, but I'm here to talk to you about a very serious issue that I have noticed in myself and others lately. The disorder GLF, Green Lantern Fatigue. DC in the recent past has given so many Green Lantern crossover epics, Blackest Night, Brightest Day, War of the Green Lantern Corp, that some of us just got tired of reading GL books. This book is the cure for that. What Works? The book starts of with a little of Kyle Rayner's backstory, its shor...

War of The Light 2.0 0

The Good: I LOVE that cover. Especially the way the circle of rings are set in front of the title. Everything about it is so great. Kirkham seems to have refined his artwork a bit, where it doesn't seem to just fit the steampunk mood of The Weaponer arc, and has a more rounded appeal. I especially like the facial expressions he captured during the scenes of each of the various corps members losing their rings. Actually his facial expressions in generally are great in this issue. We get a good fee...

Aw, No Glomulus 0

Kyle Rayner is back in a starring role in Green Lantern: New Guardians, and it succeeds in injecting some new excitement that had been missing from the relaunched Green Lantern franchise so far. Tony Bedard is working with a unique idea here and obviously has great affinity for Kyle as a character.Right away, Green Lantern: New Guardians surprises me by being the only Green Lantern title that genuinely feels like it cares about welcoming new readers because it starts with a nice retelling of Kyl...
