Tomar-Re strutting his stuff
The not so famous, Tomar-Re, is faced with difficult decisions in this once shot .
Warning: Serious Spoilers
The Story
Tomar is discussing with (Albin Sur I think) and we find out that he has a passion for earth. He is then called to his home planet due to an emergency. He arrives to find the planet is utter chaos with a death toll at 1.2 billion. Chasing after the one responsible he pushes beyond the limits of the corps and ventures in to the lost sector. Catching up with the fleeing ship Tomar and Purd'n get into a huge battle. Tomar is winning when (the stupid subway comic comes in but then after that) he is hit by a blast of yellow energy (fear). Falling on a near by planet Tomar takes a beating, then after capturing the bad guy finds that three hostages (from his home planet) have been taken and his ring power is running low. He only has enough to take the hostages or the Murder. He chooses to bring justice with the promise to return for his fellow beings.
The Good
This story blew me away. #1 The writing was terrific, the way the story came together and Tomar's expression and repression of rage and fear. I felt sucked in and rooting for Tomar to kick some serious ass. Then the final decision at the end icing on the cake. #2 The art = magnificent and told the story with perfection. The number one selling feature to me is the artists ability to tell a story through are and this comic nailed it.
The Bad
My only complaint is the god dam 8 page Subway, three big black guys wearing subway shirts and fighting with the JLA comic in the middle. I don't care it the mini series is in the comic book just put it at the end please. Makes me lose track of the story and pretty mad.
Overall
A green lantern story that I would recommend to anyone. A terrific story that is perfectly told with the art. An amazing read.
Thanks for reading my review and I hope you enjoyed it.
