    Review: Green Lantern Corps #55

It's an all-out war on Qward as the Green Lantern Corps takes on the Weaponer!

    The Good

I was a little skeptical at first on this storyline, since over the past few years, the Green Lantern books have been on such a large scale. It's been a gigantic war on epic proportions all across the universe. The third issue of this storyline really turned me around on the overall arc, as we see that this book doesn't have to be on a universal scale to be great. I love the fact that one man has the power to defeat the Corps members. It harkens a bit back to the Silver Age days where it was Hal Jordan fighting one man, and you weren't sure if Hal was going to come out on top. The Weaponer is a bada$$ villain. This book also ties together extremely well with the events of Brightest Day and the books Green Lantern and Emerald Warriors. There's a great reveal about a few key members of the light spectrum making a pact, but at no time do I feel it takes away from the main story. It seems to fit in very well. The final reveal page is awesome, and it looks like the battle on Qward is about to get much bigger.

    The Bad

The Weaponer is easily distracted... I guess that's how you beat him.

The Verdict - 5/5 Highly Recommended

    Bad Jumping on Point
This has been, so far, one of the more enjoyable stories to come out of the Green Lantern universe in the past couple of years. For me, it ranks right up there with the Rage of the Red Lanterns and the Prelude to Blackest Night (which I feel was a bit stronger than the actual event). I had my doubts when the creative team changed for this book, but so far, it hasn't let me down one bit. You may not be able to pick up the single issues, so if you can't find them, buy this one in trade.

Kirkham´s explosive art and Bedard´s cutting edge dialogues and narrative turn this book in a very interesting and solid story about a honored Qwardian that in wanting do to good to his world, ended up making everyone slave to Sinestro, and now just wants sweet and tasty revenge, no matter who´s standing against him! This Weaponer is a very powerful oponent (he defeated Soranik and Kyle so easily in issue # 53 and now he faced the Honor Guard without difficulties either) and the whole concept be...

The Good: The Weaponer is in incredible threat. The battle is so quick, yet the details make it seem like it's in slow motion, yet doesn't slow down. I know that makes no sense, but I'll just say the battle is crazy and detailed. And the way he analyzes and takes down each Lantern is pretty awesome. The artwork is totally awesome. I need to pay more attention to Tyler Kirkham, and if he ever starts drawing anything steampunk I would be all over that, because this arc clearly smacks of it. Qward ...
