Green Lantern Corps 48: The new Honor Guard!

    The Story

We see some Brightest Day stuff, but nothing you could not see on other books, most of the story goes around Ganthlet becoming a Lantern and a subplot with some other "lanterns" popping up.
And these blue guys down here seem to be a little bit more understanding since the punch in the face they received last month.

The Guardians, those little big headed old blue guys.

    The Good

We see the forging of a Battery and a ring, which may or may not imply stuff but it is good to see it takes a lot of effort to do. Also we have a Lantern on Sector 0, OA, much like Honor Guard as the tittle says.
As always, great art by Syaf.
It is a great book to start on the Green Lantern tittles, it is probably missing the summary in the beginning to be a book for new guys but it is not in the middle of the story.

    The Bad

As in the other Lantern book this week it seems there are some things they want to leave clear and are being retold from the previous issue, probably some extra dialog here and there but nothing relevant. Overall it does not affect the issue but does feel out of place to repeat it.

    The Veredict

A big 4.5 for fans of the intergalactic green corps. It is a story that seems to be starting and has some journeys that are to be followed, and if Gauntlet continues as a Lantern for a long time it is a keeper.

Ganthet leaves his long term job as a Guardian, for both the Green and Blue Lantern Corps in order to become a Green Lantern. John Stewart teams up with the Alpha Lanterns.  The Good Everything seems to be a tie-in with Brightest Day, and although it seems incredibly annoying, this issue is anything but that. It finally feels like the Green Lantern Corps book is doing its own thing for once as Ganthet becomes a Green Lantern, and as John Stewart assists Boodikka. This story also has a "one of us...

      Revival 0

This is another issue which has the unfortunate requirement to follow on the end of Blackest Night and to try to capture the attention of the reader.  There is enough going on here, just not as much of it seems as pressing as events two issues previous.  Instead of the feeling of immediacy this feels a lot more relaxed as the reader is taken on a bit of a tour of Oa and its various inhabitants before any forward looking plot is established (well except for parts on Ysmault.)  In fact some parts ...
