Hector Hammond in Brightest Day
The Storylilne:
As Hal Jordan investigates Larfleeze's mass robberies and break-ins of a local town, Hector Hammond is freed by an unknown character who tells Hammond that he would get what he always desired if he found a way to release the entity of the Orange Lantern known as Ophidian. Now both Larfleeze and Hal Jordan would find themselves stopping Hammond from trying to complete his goals as things get much more worse for the two lanterns.
The Good:
- The storyline is very solid and perfect for what its is, everything explains for itself in this issue and connects very well to where the flow of this comic is perfect. It would be hard to find yourself not entertained by this Green Lantern issue unless your trying desperately to find reasons to hate it.
- The artwork is awesome, I love how this issue was drawn, inked, and colored. Im a huge fan of the artist and I love it when he does the Green Lantern artwork. Most of all, I love how Hector Hammond was drawn, for me personally, Hammond is still very creepy with that oversized drooling noggin of his.
- Alot of character respect in this issue, alot indeed. Seeing Hal Jordan and Larfleeze team-up against Hector Hammond was a perfect idea for a storyline. But most of all, was seeing Hector Hammond in action, that was a huge plus for me with this issue. I know he's barely seen in comics and he would be labeled as a C-list villain to some, but with writers like Geoff Johns, it wouldn't be no suprise that a villain like Hector Hammond would reach the top rated list of comic villains.
- Im actually excited for the next issue, this comic has reached its full potential on creativity and build-up to where I wish I could possess a time machine to know what happens in the next issue.
OFF NOTE - Hector Hammond is not only one of my most favorite villains ever since I started reading DC comics, but he seriously creeps me out. Its just seeing that dull, drooling, mindless looking, big head of his, I kinda both feel bad for him and seriously creeped out. Just imagine what kinda chaos this guy can stir when he mixes imagination, creativity, and mindless torture and torment.
Wonder what kind of big black bug room he would make for our DC heroes.
The Bad:
Not a bad, but I noticed that the cover is the second time i've seen Hammonds big head trying to gobble up Hal Jordan.
The Ugly:
None The Conclusion:
DC Comics you did it again, but whats better is that this comic is one of two PICK OF THE WEEK issues for me. A must have issue that doesn't fail its audience in anyway, great villains, great storyline so-far, and a great unique team-up all seen in this issue.
If you go to your local comicbook store sometime in your near future, I would suggest getting this issue and adding it to your collection of awesome comics. I wouldn't call it a comic that would change Marvel fans into DC fans, but it is interesting and worth every cent and time that you give to this single issue.
Heres a short clip I made of Hector Hammond and of this issue. Maybe you may realize why Hector creeps me out and is currently labeled as one of my most favorite villains.
