    Enough is enough!

Hal and Guy finally duke it out and without their power rings to boot. This issue escalates pretty quickly into this bare handed grudge match but sort of fizzles in the second half. Two guys from town see both lanterns leave their rings in the diner they were in and decide to go and snag the rings for themselves while Hal and Guy get arrested. After a little while the two guys figure out how to use the rings and decide to go to town and cause a bunch of havoc while getting sloshed with their good friend Mr. Daniels. Hal talks the sheriff into letting him and Guy go if they can take out the two drunks. This is where the issue looses me. I realize it's a comic book about many a far fetched thing, but it would take more than "I'm the only person who can fight those guys. But if I win you have to let us go." in order for an officer of the law to actually even consider letting two people he just arrested out of the jail cell they were just thrown into. So while the main part of this story is that Guy and Hal have a small fist to face and later a heart to heart, the driving point to get them out of jail is a bit on the silly side even for 1990.

Still this issue has some great moments and we see John Stewart stuck in a situation that is really quite and pickle and the artwork is still very solid for the time period. In fact the small parts with John in the first few issues are really the most interesting pieces the early comics in this volume have. Appa Ali Apsa is off his rocker and John is caught in the middle of it with seemingly no way to escape. Not a bad issue if you are interested in the earlier Green Lantern stories before Parallex and Kyle show up on the scene.
