Hate Crime, Part One last edited by pikahyper on 05/15/19 12:53PM View full history

One of the most important people in Green Lantern's life has been attacked and left for dead. Kyle's about to discover that even with the most powerful weapon in the universe, he can't always protect those closest to him. Now that one of his inner circle is at death's door, Green Lantern is forced to examine just how vicious human beings can be. And no matter what actions he takes, both Kyle, and his legacy as Green Lantern, will begin to change with this issue.

While at St. Vincent's hospital, Kyle Rayner and Jade hear what happened to Terry, from his boyfriend David. They hear about how Terry and David left Club Rolo's, a well known gay bar in New York City, and how three guys followed them and chased down Terry and beat him almost to death.

Kyle is then approached by a New York detective who, asks some questions of Kyle that implies that it may have been Terry's fault that he had gotten beaten up. Kyle takes offense, and soon learns that the NYPD has a one of the men that attacked Terry in custody at Rikers Island, house of detention.

Kyle pays Daniel Hirsh, one of the preps, a visit as Green Lantern. Kyle tortures Daniel until he gives Kyle the name of the other two men that attacked Terry, Raymond Carsey and Alex Marsh. Kyle then catches the other two men before they can leave the city. Kyle then beats to the two men up to till they beg for mercy.

Kyle then goes back to the hospital and sees Terry in a comma and begs him to wake up.
