I love him and I wouldn't mind him getting more popular as this would likely mean more appearances.

I would like to see the political Green Arrow to become popular but since DC has muted that through Arrow, I doubt it. I think his political views are rather relevant in these couple years.

@lyrafay: I like thay Ollie is distinctly left wing as a contrast to his more conservative peers but I don't want GA to be a soap box comic.

@lyrafay: Yeah I miss the liberal rebel Green Arrow. As a Green Arrow fan his popularity is a good thing. More Ollie, more happy. That's the theory at least.

@xwraith: @attatje: I always felt that was one of the things that most set Ollie apart from the rest of the Justice League. He was more passionate and politically aware because he wasn't busy flying around space. He had his boots on the ground and his nose in the goings on around him. Those old GL/GA stories Denny O'Neil wrote really liked driving that point home. I don't know what makes now a more sensitive time than then?

@xwraith: All the more reason to have him be a left wing jackass. I loved seeing Ollie butt heads with people over his beliefs. On that same note make someone uber conservative. I just miss the chemistry he had with characters like Hal and Hawkman.

Rather do to several bad creator teams on the book.

Who do you consider his conservative pears? The only one I can think of is Barry Allen.

Even though Hal and Oliver was always on the same page (in the Green Lantern/Green Arrow book) their difference was mainly that Oliver wanted to change the whole system while Hal wanted to change the smaller things. Hal is deffentily not a socialist/left wing however I don't see him as conservative either. It was mostly about Hal discovery how man faults there was on earth and he had spent too much time in space (DC really needs to relaunch this series for two main reason. One Hal has been in space for years and has forgotten all about being a Human and two it is the perfect political situation to do such a book where there is a lot of the same political subjects as in the 70's when the first run was made).

At other times he seems like he feels sorry for those who breaks the law out of need of caught up in it and not being the boss/cause of it but rather also a victim of it. He is though on criminals but on the other side he believes people can be better and turn around this is mostly seen in his relationship with Two-face.

@tupiaz: Leaning right doesn't mean he lacks faith in people. That's the thing people refuse see now days because only the politically crazy get attention. When I say he leans right its more because he favors a somewhat more authoritative world view. Basically Batman is a sane republican.

Batman isn't sane he has huge mental problems. If he didn't had Alfred I doubt he would function.

However where bruce doesn't not strike as a typical conservative is his wayne foundation. Not that a a conservative wouldn't donate however it would in western society often happen trough religious (he is even at times protracted as atheist. I believe it was Prey?). Yes Gotham is corrupt but if he was a true conservative he would care more about the religion/christianity. He also doesn't seem to e that patriotic like for instance Hawkman (which I don't have that much knowledges about however that is the vibe I get from him) is.

Like I said the donation has nothing to do with conservatism. However saying that religion and thereby christianity has nothing to do with conservatism isn't correct. It is those values conservatism is build on.

Well Barry hasn't shown much of his conservative side (has it ever been touched on outside of that cover?) but Wally was very Republican. But I know that Hawkman is a conservative and he and Green Arrow used to fight about that.

No I'm taking about conservatism as an ideology and a world wide/western phenomenon. Saying that conservatism has nothing to do with religion isn't true doesn't mean you can't be atheist and be conservative.

    Exacly!...
Let's put our hipster selves aside for a minute......

When comicbook movies exploded some years ago, with the Avengers,i saw some people who liked comics get pissed, because "Now superheroes are "in" and everyone likes em and i don't like it that i am not the only one who knows about them....and i was reading comics before the universe was born" and stuff......the popularity of a character is a good thing!!

@tupiaz: Only Christian Conservatives have an interest in how it applies to Christianity, Jewish, Muslim and Atheists Conservatives probably couldn't care less about Christian specific values. The reason people have this belief that Conservatism is somehow linked with Christianity is based in a fantasy made up by the media, in pretty much the same way Fox News likes to keep telling people that all liberals are socialists. Its just not true, the Concepts of Liberalism and Conservatism actually out date Christianity and have been around since about the time humanity invented politics.

Of cause conservatism in the middle wouldn't be linked to christianity they would be link to islam and in Israel to judaism. However conservatism is always link to the established values and therefore in the western world it would be christianity.
