looks very awesome.
Green Arrow
Character » Green Arrow appears in 4302 issues.
Oliver Queen was a spoiled, thrill-seeking playboy, until he was left stranded on a deserted island for several years. There, he trained to become a master archer in order to survive. After his return home, he used his new-found skills and his wealth to became the costumed vigilante known as Green Arrow.

I'm cautious. Amazing trailers for shows and movies tend to be guilded representations whereas the actual show tends to not be so good. I'll reserve judgement till I actually watch. But from what I see so far, this is spot on with how I would do a Green Arrow series. Awesome!
It looks interesting but only because of the possiblily of a BLACK CANARY appearance (if it lasts long enough).

Don't forget the 30 seconds he appeared in Thor! ;)

You're right.
5 years on smallville vs 3 hours and 30 seconds in thor.
Hmmmm..... I wonder who really has more mainstream exposure.
Plus after the show airs, Green Arrow would be the #1 archer.
I have to admit that I`m a littlebit excited about this. Though I don`t expect too much ...I mean just look at Birds of Prey and Smallville :S

Are you implying all comic book TV shows would end up with the exact same quality?
hmmmm interesting theory.

Well, given the fact that hardly anyone watches the CW and Avengers is the highest grossing movie of all time, I'd give slight edge to Hawkeye.
The trailers have sold me on this show, I'm going to give it a shot.

Well, Smallville who aired for ten years that were constantly on reruns, and had viewship ratings of around 3-8 million per episode, huge international seller http://tvmegasite.net/prime/shows/smallville/schedule.shtml that so happens to be sold all over the world, constantly being replayed all over the world and is even replaying on TNT right this very moment?
Not to mention the DVD sales (highest in the network and top ten overall from all networks)
I would say Green Arrow definitely has more mainstream exposure than Hawkeye. I mean nothing against Hawkeye, but he only played a minor role in Avengers and only for like 2 hours. Plus does he have his own book right now? perhaps a OGN like Green Arrow year one or perhaps classic stories like long bow hunters, hard travelling heroes?
@sethysquare: It's not my goal to turn this thread into a "Green Arrow vs Hawkeye" pissing contest. I prefer Green Arrow to Hawkeye. I actually can't stand Hawkeye, whereas Green Arrow is actually likeable. But to argue that a supporting character in a fifth network show (even a syndicated one, who has his own comic book series) has had more exposure than a character who falls between lead and supporting in a movie that has sold an average of 52.6 million tickets in the U.S. alone is just not feasible.
Honestly, I think the success of Avengers will be good for this series. I don't think people will confuse this character with Hawkeye, but they have seen that archer characters can work and they don't need to be convinced of that. "Oh, he's like that guy from that Avengers movie" (even though he's really not).
@jinxuandi: Like I said Smallville aired for 10 seasons. Green Arrow was around for 5 seasons of it. Smallville was always one of the most watch show in the network. It also has great DVD sales and overseas sales. You can't compare it just solely cos it aired on a 5th network. Like I said, theres constant replays and what not plus a comic book series. Hawkeye was also a supporting character but he was not the main focus of the show. Sure, Green Arrow wasn't also, but he has been around far longer, starred in more cartoons than Hawkeye, has his own animated short.
I'm not saying the success of Avengers will or wont be good for the series, just that majority of the people that watched it, didn't watch it for Hawkeye and he had very little scenes in the movie. He wasn't a big feature and it was only a 2 hours movie.
Yes, many people saw the movie, so did tons of people watch Toy story and I'm sure nobody can remember the 7th lead from the movie. Smallville ran for 5 years and its still running now. It is a household show and Green Arrow had a huge step way before Avengers came up. So a 2 hour movie just isn't going to make the character iconic, especially when outside of the movie Hawkeye only appeared in EMH and SHS while Green Arrow has had a huge presence since JLU and is an integral part of Justice League. Popularity can be contested, but I'm sure Green Arrow has always been more iconic.
@sethysquare: I thought we were talking about mainstream exposure, not popularity or "iconicity"? Those are two different things (although they are definitely related). I don't know of an objective way to determine which of the two characters is more popular; Green Arrow fans will say Green Arrow is more popular (he has his own book!), Hawkeye fans will say Hawkeye is more popular (he's a main character in Marvel's main team!).
Comparing Toy Story to Avengers isn't really fair for a lot of reasons, the most important of which is the fact that Toy Story didn't actually have 6-7 lead characters; it only had 2. The seventh most important character in Toy Story would have been the fourth most important supporting character, equivalent to Pepper Potts or Selvig in Avengers. THOSE characters are definitely forgettable, but I don't think most people who walked away from Avengers walked away thinking: "Yeah, the main characters of that movie were Iron Man and Hulk. Don't remember anybody else though."
Maybe Green Arrow is more "iconic" than Hawkeye, maybe not. To me, when I think of comic book icons, I don't think of either of those characters.

I bet that after the avengers lot of people would think he is HawkeyeAnd those people are stupid for not knowing how to use Google.
They also form the vast majority of the US population
I already knew that, how else can you explain George W. Bush getting elected president TWICE.

No, I just don`t expect too much from this show because I didn`t like the tv shows from dc and so far. But I have hope that this one will come out better :)
Yes, I will be checking it out. Why? Ollie Queen is awesome, and if this does well hopefully we'll see other "lesser-known" DC characters get their own shows. Flash, Cyborg, or Aquaman anyone?
For a realistic vigilante show, they need to emphasize the brains and money and technology of the vigilante. The arrows won't be useful most of the time and should be used more as symbols of Robin Hood, Arrow should be fighting like Punisher or Batman most of the time rather than relying on primitive arrows.
1. You're all retards if you confuse Green Arrow with Hawkeye.
And 2. Out of the hundreds of DC comic characters, why does Green Arrow get a show?

To be fair, that's also partially caused by the American election system
I am impressed by everything I've seen and heard so far. I'm even glad they are going with GA for the first run. As disappointing as Wonder Woman falling to the wayside, I'm glad they are giving another comic book character a shot, and it makes sense that it would be Oliver, considering how popular GA was on Smallville. Now someone needs to get around to making a Martian Manhunter series that's losely based on the X-Files...>.>
