The origin of the Green Arrow begins here in this six issue mini-series.
Writer Andy Diggle and artist Jock took Ollie Queen back to the beginning in Green Arrow Year One, an updated version of Green Arrow's origin. Oliver Queen was s bored playboy with a Robin Hood fixation who was betrayed by his closest friend, Hackett, and left close to death and stranded in the ocean. Ollie washed up on an island used by Hackett's paymaster - China White - as a heroin farm. Using his Robin Hood-like skills with a bow and arrow to survive, Ollie was given the name "Auu Lanu Lau'ava" (or Green Arrow) by China White's slaves. As Green Arrow helped the slaves win freedom and destroy the heroin farm, Ollie discovered his true calling as a swashbuckling hero.
