I'd Read Green Arrow on My Q-Pad 0

Green Arrow is no longer in a Forrest and has gained his secret identity back along with a new company. Is this new direction good for Oliver?  THE GOOD: I really like this new direction for Oliver. I think it makes the character itself seem a lot cooler and I really like the idea of him being a company owner that is competing against Wayne Enterprises and Lex Corp. The story is solid and I think this story is going to be a lot cooler before it's done. I really like this idea of people being abl...

    New to Green Arrow 0

As a Marvel fan who is giving DC a chance with the "New 52", I enjoyed Green Arrow #1. While I'm not a traditional reader of Green Arrow, I enjoyed this issue and am going to keep reading it for now. #1 has a good amount of action in it, and I recommend it as one of the New 52 worth checking out....

    I'm a PC. 1

J.T. Krul's latest Green Arrow relaunch puts all its stock in high tech gadgets at the expense of character, leaving this feeling more like an issue starring Marvel's Hawkeye than Oliver Queen. On top of that, it feels like simply a standard superhero story with nothing new or unique to really say. Apparently, with his beard went Ollie's personality.  The main hook of the new revamped Green Arrow mythos is that Oliver Queen now owns Apple, or technically that a division of Queen Industries is no...

    Green Arrow #1 Review 0

The Good: A good 50% of the issue seemed to be devoted to introducing not only Ollie's semi-new array of gadget arrows (which I would be surprised if there were no more than what was shown), but also his new intelligence team. While I could see why people would be comparing this new (ish) Green Arrow to Batman with the use of gadgets and an "Oracle-esque" character feeding him information in the field through advanced tech, I feel like this has more of a secret agent feel to it. This is probably...

Green Arrow Post-Relaunch is a Great Read 2

I have been reading Green Arrow for a while, I have every Green Arrow book since vol. 3.   That being said I had concerns about what I was reading about his changes in his character post-relaunch he seemed like he was going to be changed moreso than a lot of other characters.   I was ready to give it a chance and it pays off.   That being said this is a different Oliver Queen, he is still running Queen Industries, he is using more trick arrows again, he is younger, and he has a team to support h...

We had to wait a while but we get a good Green Arrow story 3

Cover I enjoyed the cover for this issue a lot. Even though Green Arrows beard is classic I also like Green Arrow with a five o’clock shadow. I also loved the art for the cover because it looked so real. So, far this is my favorite cover out of all the 52 new titles for the reboot. Green Arrow kind of reminds me of the Green Arrow from Smallville, which I love because Green Arrow was one of my favorite characters from Smallville. Story Green Arrow goes and tries to stop people at a party ...

    Green Arrow review 0

To begin I will admit I am a huge Green Arrow fan, if his name is on it I will read it without a second thought. Another things is that I like JT Kruls writing unlike most people.   This was a great start to a new on going series, the art was pretty good, not the best, not the worst. I like the idea how Green Arrow is in Seattle because I actually used to live close to that area and know it pretty well, which gives me and this book a better connection.   The Good - Green Arrow is in Seattle (see...

    I Expected More 0

The Story: Green Arrow tries to balance life as CEO of Q-Core and his Green Arrow persona.  My Thoughts:I haven't had much experience with J.T. Krul's work before this so I had no idea what I would be walking into. Unfortunately I wasn't no where near as satisfied as I had expected to be after finishing this. Krul fails to draw you into the story with it's addition of mundane, second-rate villains that look completely preposterous. The villain named Doppelganger who has four arms and two heads j...

This seires better invoke the "Growing the beard" trope. 3

Review for Green Arrow #1.  The Story: Ollie goes to arrest some freaks that have beaten people and have posted it on youtube. We see some of Queen Industries and the people who are helping him.  The Good: You know ive seen some negative comments about these villains but I find them interesting. These are the type of villains that think of dressing up in costumes and fighting superheroes is just stupid and seems very posur esk wich I like for some reason. I have a feeling were going to some corp...

The Old and the New Not Mixing Well 0

The Good: J.T. Krul made me like Green Arrow in the first place, and I'm glad to see him continue. The spirit is still there in the writing in a pretty good way. A tiny example includes the same style of letting for the issue titles, which are nice and fancy.Green Arrow makes really good use of his wide range of trick arrows and gadgets, making this fun and interesting. The angle of Green Arrow working with backup he communicates with is pretty interesting. It reflects his new modern design and ...

    BigBoyville 1

Green Arrow has always been one of those comics I though I'd pick up at some point and be riveted by all the heroics of Batman mixed the swagger of Iron Man and the Political and philosophical stuff of chuck Dixon weaved in. That sounds like a great character. That sounds like something I'd be interested in. I just had nothing to pull me in. Nothing to go, "Ok, I'll read this and give you a chance," and you know what if nothing else DCnU has inspired me to try all their titles out.  The problem ...

52's GA missed the mark. 0

I don't know if it is a flaw in the creative team or a flaw in the direction but I was let down with this issue. I guess it is my love for classic GA, you know the good stuff that Mike Grell use to do and with names attached to the 52 like Dan Jurgens and George Perez, why not have a return of Grell?I do understand J.T. Krul wanted to make GA accessible and the modern Robin Hood doesn't appeal to the youth, but another rich vigilante is not what readers need. GA is now a poor mans Tony Stark and...

Long time Emerald Archer lover. 2

I have been a longtime reader of Green Arrow. When Kevin Smith's Green Arrow books came out I bought them simply because his name was attached to the book. I didn't actually read them for about 6 or 7 years. Sad, yes but at least they were read and an insane avid fan was born. Green Arrow is my favorite character. Something about him, particularly the way Smith wrote him I just was attracted to. I love the organic feel to him, using a bow and arrow is something unique in this time when technolog...

    Missing the Mark 0

This review originally appeared on my Wordpress blog. That's right HERE, if you were curious...Green Arrow is one of my all-time favorite characters in comic books. Like many fans, I too was concerned that, in DC's new reboot/revamp/rewind effort, old Oliver Queen would suffer. I remained optimistic, but there was always that pang of fear. The attachment of J.T. Krul, who had done a solid job in taking Ollie in some interesting new directions following Blackest Night, and the crafty veteran of D...

    More of this please 2

Before this comic, I hated Green Arrow. I always found him a cheesy and stupid character with a retarded achery schtick. The political underpinnings made him even more unbearable. Suddenly, a goofy Robin Hood-type superhero bcame a vehicle for social justice, who'd have thunk? It was hard as hell even locating a store in the South Bay that still had a copy of this, as far as I know, this book is doing well in sales, which is a miracle to sy the least.Anyway. This issue is fanatstic in a lot of wa...

Decent and safe first issue... 0

In "Green Arrow" #1 writer J.T. Krul gives Oliver Queen a physical makeover but delivers a fairly safe and mundane first issue. The book begins with Oliver already established as both a millionaire corporate owner and Green Arrow. He already has his gadget arrows and eye-in-the-sky intel source. Krul's best moments are in the scenes that develop the corporate structure at Queen Industries. There are also some pretty good action sequences but they are pretty run-of-the-mill. My bigger gripe was ...

    Smallville or Green Arrow 0

What has DC done to my Green Arrow. They cut his hair, beard gave him googles, and made him into a pretty much Justin Hartley look-a-like. I liked the smallville green arrow costume but I woulda preferred in a alternate universe.   The art coulda been better but it is not as bad many people make it out to be. It fits the issue ok. The first issue introduces us to a fairly well established green arrow. He has been green arrow for a little while and he has a pretty handy support team. Naomi plays ...

    Bad beginning... 0

I feel that Oliver Queen as we know it has lost its identity in this first issue. The character lacks the strength and charm. This principle is very innocent and vulgar, much like the 90's. The dialogues are childish and Dan Jurgen's designs do not help at all. I think DC is wrong with these "New 52" but time will take care to judge. In this case, Green Arrow, assure that they made a huge mistake. Oliver looks young, too modern and characterless. They did a great character, a minor character des...

    Q and A 0

Green Arrow has always been the poor man's Batman, but this reinterpretation of the character reduces him even further. It's as if they set out to make him less exciting than he already was. His design borrows way too heavily from Smallville and the slight stubble on his goatee make him look like more of an ass than when he actually had the beard. Now, he has a team made up of Whiny and Spunky, responsible for his weaponry and gadgets. They also seem to assist him in the field. Ollie can afford a...

    Um...wow 0

So issue one of Green Arrow. The hero who fights for the little guy and represents the streets is the owner of a vast technological empire that combines Stark Industries with Apple. This new incarnation of Green Arrow uses a team of employees to help him in his fights with tips and suggestions. So how does it read? Horribly. I try not to be bias in my reviews and shout my rage over the characters I love being changed but Green Arrow has been changed in a terrible way. If you can, just borrow thi...

Green Arrow Shot in the Foot 0

Judging the Book by the CoverThe first opinion of any book you can make is based on the cover, and sadly for me I noticed something on this cover that i cant unsee… Oliver Queen look like a rat. The overgrown 5 o’clock shadow, coupled with the wide mouthed expression showing his white teeth cant help but make him appear more as vermin than emerald archer.Story TimeOliver Queen is attempting to balance his civilian work as owner of Queen Industries, a multinational corporation, while also keeping...
