On tonight's episode of Gotham, a new drug called "Viper" gives regular folks super-human strength. How will the folks at GCPD stop users? Check out the short video below.

There's a bit more than just this going on in the episode though, here's the description for the show as well.

Gordon and Bullock search for the source of a new street drug that causes euphoria then death. Meanwhile, Oswald Cobblepot works his way deeper into Maroni’s (guest-star David Zayas) inner circle and Fish Mooney continues her plot against Falcone in the all-new “Viper” episode of GOTHAM airing Monday, Oct. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX

Could this "Viper" drug be an early form of "Venom" that made Bane become the villain fans know and love? Most likely, so make sure to tune in tonight to see how this drug got its start. Also, make sure to check out our recap and review, every Monday night, right after the series airs.

Clearly foreshadowing Bane and Venom. Also, isn't the whole "superhuman strength" drug a little bit overdone in comic book inspired shows to the point of clichéd?

It's a cheap effect to produce with special effects, and easy for people to understand. Very much an easy "go to" for writers and producers, sadly.

I mean Smallville had it, Agents of SHIELD just did it, loads of other comic book and non-comic book but sci-fi/superhero related shows did it. This is just bandwagonning.

I do not know how to feel about this. On one hand, I like that Bane is getting more air time, but on the other hand, I just do not like how they are moving to a already established character instead of using characters that fans really now nothing about

@elpizo: Just because they're using a super strength drug doesn't mean it'll directly involve Bane, maybe foreshadow him but I doubt he'll be a villain here or anything

Huh, I assumed that Gotham was going for the more grounded feel and villains.

Nice fore shadowing to Bane or at the very least showing that the venom steroid is in the prototype stages. So long as they don't add Bane as his only reason in going to Gotham in the first place was to to Break Batman. So adding the character himself would present a major problem.

This episode was not that good.

I really don't like these one episode sub-plots like viper or the Balloonman and whatnot. I really do like the whole Penguin/Salvatore/Fish/Falcone plot. They need to stick to that rather than these silly one episode stories.

Also the moments with Bruce aren't necessary.

Oh, and I still don't like Alfred in this show.
