A collection of some of the most interesting and esoteric comic book stories from the once-popular, now virtually DEFUNCT genres of crime and horror. On the crime end, stories include “Jo Arway, Roadside Murderess” reprinted from Fox Featutres’ legendary Crimes By Women #15; Kid Kane ( by Matt Baker) , originally seen in Atomic Comics; “Poison Pen Murder”, drawn by Mickey Spillane’s collaborator Harry Sahle; “Bull Tuttle -Terror On Route 9W” from Famous Crimes #20, plus “Prison Panic”, “The Case of the Left-Handed Coat”; “Hideaway Town”; “Reform School Girl”, “The Electric Chair and the Murderess”, “Highway Pirates”; “Big Wheel” and “Gun Happy”, with art by the likes of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, Bob Powell, Mort Meskin, Louis Zanzky, Marvin Stein, Fred Kida and Bob Fugitani. Romance stories include “My Secret Husband”, and “My Clay Idol’, both drawn for Fox Features in the late 1940’s by the team of Harry Harrison and Wallace Wood; “Song In My Heart”, “I Joined A Teenage Sex-Club”, “Enchanted Holiday”, “Secret Heart” and “For The Love Of Mike”, all by Bob Powell; “Blinded By Love”, from Alex Toth; Ralph Mayo’s “Beautiful Schemer; “Gossip Condemned Me”; “Anguish In My Heart” and “You Must Trust Love”, BOTH drawn by John Romita in his Pre-Marvel/Atlas AND Pre-DC Comics days, plus Sheldon Moldoff’s “Madelon”. An oversized, 164-page collection of vintage comic book stories celebrating both tenderness and brutality- hence the title: “Guns and Roses”.
