    The Beginning of the End

As some of you may, or may not, know it's been announced that Godzilla: Rulers of Earth will be ending in June 2015 with a kaiju-sized/double-sized 25th issue making it the longest Godzilla comic series ever to published. It's a shame that the series is coming to an end, as it's been one of the most enjoyable and entertaining monthly comics for the past two years. One cannot give enough credit to the creative team of Rulers of Earth, which includes writer Chris Mowry and artists Matt Frank & Jeff Zornow. They've made this series into an incredible saga, leaving a very noticeable mark/lasting impression on the Godzilla franchise that not only respected the source material, but greatly added to it.

Those who have been reading the stories, consisting of its various arches, knows that in essence Godzilla: Rulers of Earth is one gigantic story. A saga involving monsters, humans, aliens, and the planet Earth. Everything that the series, and its characters (human, monster, and alien alike), has been through has all been leading to this. The Ultimate Endgame. The Ultimate Invasion of Earth.

The issue begins where our last issue left off, with Godzilla & Megaguirus facing off against the Cryog's deadliest creations: The Trilopods. Also in this issue, we're finally introduced to the Cryog Emperor himself: Karkaro! He's a very refreshing and intimidating villain, one armed with a vast alien armada and his hordes of Trilopods. He definitely demands fear & respect, even from Commander Rhizon, who was our antagonist for the majority of the series. The relationship between Karkaro & Rhizon is similar to that of the relationship between Megatron and Starscream... and it's just as entertaining/amusing. I'm hoping we'll see more of the ruthless Emperor Karkaro in the coming issues (and I'm certain we will).

The fight between Godzilla, Megaguirus, and the Trilopods is intense and violent. The Trilopods, who are new monstrous creations created by the Cryog aliens as biological weapons, prove to be quite formidable with their unique powersets and overwhelming numbers. There's some cool surprises and wicked action sequences to be found in this conflict. I don't want to spoil it, as I believe it is best if you get the comic and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed, I can promise you that, so go order or pick up a copy of this issue!

Meanwhile, Battra invades the Monster Islands with the sole intent of killing the two Mothra larvae that escaped his malevolent wrath in the previous issue. But the monsters who reside their have more to worry about as it is then that Emperor Karkaro sends down more pods (including the entire nest) that contain numerous Trilopods and more alien warships to ravage the planet and assault the monsters & humanity. It looks quite grim, for even the vastly powerful, cosmic SpaceGodzilla is assaulted by the Cryog & the Trilopods. It ends with an awesome cliffhanger, one that made me wish that I had the next issue in my possession. Godzilla & SpaceGodzilla facing off against the hordes of monstrous invaders, the fate of everything resting on their massive shoulders.

    The end begins...
