Okay, I can pick out most, but what i want to know is.... Who is that tank in the back with a giant hammer? Atlas?
Gods of Olympus
Team » Gods of Olympus appears in 1010 issues.
A group comprised of the immortal Gods, both major and minor, some demigods, some heroes and many monsters and creatures of the ancient Greek and Roman religions now commonly referred to as Greco-Roman Mythology.
Olympic Gods
Ajax was mortal, unless Marvel have made him into a God.
"Could be, but Achilles is also there and he's no god either. So i'm still thinking it's Ajax."
"and what mini would that be?they have a Greek mythology mini?"
"You're right of course, unless you're talking about Ajax the lesser. But i doubt they look at mythology so closely in the Marvel Universe, just look at several Olympians in the Marvel universe. Ajax is known amongst the greater public as wielding a huge hammer (most notably from the movie Troy).Ajax was mortal born of two mortal parents. Achilles' mother was Thetis, so he was a mortal but with divine heritage. If anyone in Greek mythology goes around wielding a giant hammer, it's Hephaestus."

True, and I do suspect that Marvel will have warped the character to suit their own needs. However, Ajax wielded a giant spear, ignoring any rubbish spewed from that dreadful movie. If it is Ajax (which I still doubt) then he's had a much needed make-over...

"well, I admit that I myself am more interested in Greek mythology than the Marvel characters...so is it a great read from someone with a background in the Marvel world or the mythology world? or both?"If you read it for the mythology i wouldn't pick it up. Your knowledge of it won't be needed in that comic, but i still found it to be a good read though but not if you go into it expecting lots of mythology :p
"xerox-kitty said:He used different weapons, but yes he did have a giant shield and it was Ajax the Greater... I thought Ajax the lesser was a bitch? But he did use a hammer once or twice, but mainly a giant spear...... Personally i think the massive hammer is more intimidating than any spear."However, Ajax wielded a giant spear,Really? I thought he always wielded a large round shield, made from 8 hides.. or was that Ajax the Lesser?..."
"Ajax doesn't wear this anymore."I guessed that, but there's a shocking lack of recent pictures in his gallery. If anyone had any to post, it might settle the matter of whether it's him in that picture or not.

"Why are the pics in his gallery then....Vance Astro said:That is a different character altogether."'That's because he got owned by Deadpool..that's the bottom of the barrel."
"Someone screwed the pooch on that page is why."So what happened to the big gold suit wearing dude?
"Korg said:a different character all together, one is a former worker in weapon x while the other is a greek giant."Why are the pics in his gallery then...."Vance Astro said:That is a different character altogether."'That's because he got owned by Deadpool..that's the bottom of the barrel."
"Vance Astro said:Then there is 3 Marvel characters named Ajax..."Korg said:a different character all together, one is a former worker in weapon x while the other is a greek giant.""Why are the pics in his gallery then...."Vance Astro said:That is a different character altogether."'That's because he got owned by Deadpool..that's the bottom of the barrel."
"hmm, well I'll still put it up there on the list of "comics to consider"...but wasn't that bald Greek guy from SHIELD (I think that's the name of the t.v. show) going to be coming out with some Greek mythology comic in the near future?"
Sorry, Korg. You may have said it, but words didn't prove it. I wasn't convinced till Precise proved it with the scan. So anyways, I'm just saying I was wrong.

So anyways, I'm just saying I was wrong. You were right though, he's nothing like the Ajax described in Greek mythology, he fits your description better. The only way i knew it was him was because he looks exactly like the guy from the movie Troy. And that's how he's known by the majority of the people.
It's going to be called "Olympus". It says "later this year" in regards to release.

So, how is the Olympus comic?
Have Marvel &/or DC ever put out a comic using their designs/versions of the various mythologies & legends? What are some of the better comics to actually tell the myths, as closly as possible. I hate to say it, but if I'm going to read the myths, I'd kinda like some cool pictures to go with it.
