The begining of a new Ms. Marvel!
Ms. Marvel Giant Sized issue one-shot. A story written from the pages of the house of M story arc and the one that launched Ms. Marvel into her second solo series. After her original stint as Ms. Marvel during the 70's, her rise and fall as Binary, her leading of the Avengers, and her change to Warbird, all those events come full circle in this issue, a precursor to the Ms. Marvel series.
Waking up the day after Decimation, the notorious day when the Scarlet Witch uttered one simple phrase the would alter the Marvel universe for ever, Carol Danvers awakes in her bed to find the world back to normal. She then rcollects her time in the House of M reality, and how she went by Captain Marvel, instead of Ms. Marel. In this reality, Sir Warren Traveler, a former Sorcerer Supreme, acts as Carol's arch enemy. As Ms. Marvel storms a burning building to save some children, she is immediately ambushed by Traveler. A feirce battle then ensues between the two as they duke it out, with Traveler constantly using a spell that hifts him seconds between moments of time, popping up everywhere. Traveler then knocks Carol into the burning building in hopes to finishing her off. He then prepares to teleport again, when Carol throws a cat at him, messing him up, and sending him god knows where. After the fight, she then goes to a cancer foundation rally to give a speech. Later, she meets with Emma Frost and Psyclops. Emma psycically communicates with Carol, telling her things shouldn't be this way. Now, Carol is on her balcony after Decimation, contemplating her role in the house of M. She feels that if she was one of the best heroes in that reality, then why couldn't she be the best in this one. With that in mind, she dawns her previous costume before Warbird, and goes out to become the hero she was born to be.
A great book. 4.5 in my book. It really showed Carol on a more human note than just Ms. Marvel, the Avenger. Featuring three bonus stories, one on her origin, one on her first time as Ms. Marvel, and one featuring the first appearance of her signature costume, there's alot of good reading in this one issue. Featuring artwork from Roberto De La Torre, and a greatly written story by Brian Reed, this is a must read in my book. A good insight to both the House of M, and Carol Danvers, it's all around good. So, nice readings, and enjoy.
