The agile X-Man is eventually heading back to the big screen... and he's going to be played by Channing Tatum! While chatting with Total Film, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner confirmed the 21 Jump Street star will step into Remy LeBeau's boots. The producer previously stated she wanted the actor for the role and, during press interviews for White House Down, Tatum also expressed great interest in the character.

Donner says Tatum's a good fit because he's a "rogue" and a "rascal" just like the card tossing X-Man. She also emphasized how Tatum knows New Orleans well and claims he can absolutely handle the action segments. You can watch the full interview here.

Gambit was the redeeming part of xmen origins for me. this just feels wrong. He seems to muscular to be a stealthy thief.

I like the casting of Tatum (how can you say no to those eyes) but in what function and where will he be showing up as Gambit.

Grow his hair out, put a smile on that face, give him the eyes, I heard he can do a decent Nawlens accent, but haven't seen it myself... I'm prepared to give him a shot. But maybe that's because I can't recall anything I've ever seen him in.

On the bright side maybe they will just misuse him again and we won't have to see much.

Nothing wimpy about the Wonder Woman pick at all. Gal Gadot is a former soldier in the Israeli Army, and thus a Black Belt in Krav Maga. Thus giving her a solid foundation in terms of her h2h combat training for her upcoming role as Wonder Woman (Youtube "Nenad Ikras" and you'll see what I'm talking about) which to accurately portray the role would further include training in Kung Fu, Karate, Greco-Roman Wrestling, and training in archaic weaponry such as the sword and shield, spear/javelin, and perhaps even the bow and arrow. And she has even been quoted as saying that she's currently training in Kung Fu and sword fighting for the role as we speak, so somebody at Warner Bros. knows what I just told you.

She'll be fine, especially since she already knew how to fight before filming even began.

I think that it's a solid choice, personally I think that Channing Tatum is a little underrated as an actor, he's not great but he's in the same group as Henry Cavill or Chris Hemsworth and people love them.

Ultimately it comes down to how the character is written.

This is karmic payback for the fan reaction to Ben Affleck playing Batman.

I'll make my first judgements when I see him in full costume in a trailer. He is a fan of the character so I'm willing to give him a chance. Hope he grows out his hair a bit for the role. It's also about time we get the black and red eyes;)

Maybe he's as good as Hemsworth, but that's not saying much. Hemsworth does fine as Thor, but everythign else I've seen him in is disappointing. Its literally like watching the same character - like in Snow White or Rush.

Cavill is a way better actor than Hemsworth. Cavill played Charles Brandon on The Tudors for like 5 years who is a playboy aristocrat. Completely different than Superman.

I'm not....actually opposed to this? I'll go on record with this again and say that the casting choices are the least of the X-Men film franchises problems.

Like I needed more reasons to believe the X-film franchise is full of fail.
