    Origin

After the Armor Hunters invasion the U.S. Secretary re-branded the organization M.E.R.O. (Military Extraterrestrial Recon Outpost) into G.A.T.E. (Global Agency for Threat Excision) to better establish the organization to the public. This was necessary when M.E.R.O. had piloted a retrofitted spaceship over Los Angeles. According to the U.S. Secretary G.A.T.E. "performed well in target group testing. It symbolizes security. Safety."; see Armor Hunters: Aftermath #1 (October 2014).

Colonel Capshaw has been the head of M.E.R.O. and G.A.T.E. since the agency was founded.

The organization was also behind Unity and had have ties with Toyo Harada in the past as well; see Unity #1 (November 2013).

    Creation

M.E.R.O. was created by writer Robert Venditti. They first appeared in X-O Manowar #15 (July 2013).
