The twin brother of Ernst Sablinova, Fritz was a founding member of the Wild Pack, dedicated to hunting down Nazi war criminals. Fritz was the main tactician of the group, backing up his brother's more front-line position. He did grow to resent the power and respect his brother commanded, feeling sidelined. During the early days of the Wild Pack, Fritz would often act as a body double for his brother, allowing Ernst to seemingly be in two places at once. This only added to his resentent of Ernst, feeling as though he lived in his brother's shadow.

After the death of Ernst's wife Anastasia, Ernst became increasingly unstable and emotional. Fritz played a key role in training Ernst's daughter Silver in tactical skills, though he assumed Ernst's identity, in order to continue to act as a body double.

After Ernst's assumed death at the hands of war criminal Ivan Trefkov, Fritz started to go insane. He infiltrated HYDRA and was captured by Trefkov. He convinced Trefkov that he was on his side, and that they should overthrow HYDRA's leader Baron von Strucker. In a twisted way, Fritz was trying to fufil his brother's dream of destroying HYDRA, but in his demented state Fritz was willing to work with his brother's murderer to do so. Fritz and Trefkov broke away from HYDRA, forming the Genesis Coalition along with ex-HYDRA agent Dmitri Petrovitch.

They began working towards a master plan to destroy HYDRA, but Fritz's niece Silver began disrupting thier operations. First she destroyed one of thier facilities in South America while hunting Petrovitch. Next she attacked thier undersea headquarters with the help of the hero Stingray and the HYDRA-backed mercenaries the Next Wave; this latter conflict forced Fritz to intervene directly, though Silver did not recognize him.

Soon, however, Fritz's master plan was ready. They had managed to accrue a large number of HYDRA resources, including uniforms, vehicles, weapons, etc. They planned to make a number of strategic attacks on major world powers, disguised as HYDRA provoking a counter-offensive from the world's governments and heroes that would leave HYDRA decimated. This plan would kill uncountable innocents, and simply replace Strucker with madmen like Petrovitch and Trefkov, but at this stage in his madness Fritz didn't particularly care about the consequences of his victory.

Petrovitch fouled up the plan, by luring Silver to their headquarters, hoping to carry out a coup against Trefkov. Fritz killed Petrovitch, and revealed himself to Silver, explaining his plan, and claiming it was the only way to beat HYDRA. At first she agreed, but after realizing the true depth of his madness, she moved to stop his plan.

Silver and her Wild Pack were able to prevent the Coalition's plan with the help of the Intruders, S.H.I.E.L.D., and the HYDRA mercenary group System Crash. Silver killed Trefkov, and Fritz, furious at the failure of his mater plan and the loss of his resources, attacked his niece, his madness driving him to go for the kill. He was abruptly killed by the Foreigner, who refused to let anyone else have the chance to kill Silver.
