Seemly just another citizen of Bugtown, there is secretly more to Freddy Firefly than meets the eye. Given powers far beyond those or ordinary bugs, when Freddy says the magic words “Fire Up” he bursts into flame and gains the ability to fly faster than a plane and control fire.
Using these abilities he protects the critters of Bugtown.
The only person who knows that Freddy is the mysterious flaming avenger is his girlfriend Myrtle.

A part of EC Comics when EC meant “Educational Comics” Freddy, Myrtle and Bugtown went away when EC was changed to “Entertaining Comics”
A blatant funny animal take on Timely’s (Marvels) Human Torch, it was so obvious that in his last appearance EC had to change his flame to green.
