X-Men: Apocalypse Casts Young Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm

For months now, there's been plenty of rumors floating around about who will play some young mutants in the next X-Men movie. Well, the director of X-Men: Apocalypse is putting an end to the speculation by announcing the cast via twitter! Sophie Turner will play Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp will become Storm, and Tye Sheridan has landed the role of Cyclops.

We know the upcoming movie will focus on the dynamic between Magneto and Mystique while also unleashing Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse. However, details about the story are still pretty limited and there's no word yet on how big of a role these younger characters will play. Here's hoping Cyclops finally gets a little more love in the movie franchise, right? Seeing as Gambit has a movie coming out after this one in 2016, we're left wondering whether Singer's movie will find a way to highlight the character. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Sophie Turner as the most hated redhead in her universe? Great fit.

But I do like the casting of Ms. Shipp, for Storm!

Sophie as Jean is good.

Tye as Cyclops is good.

Alexandra as Storm. Not good.

Tye and Sophie are talented, so that's good. I don't know this Shipp girl, but most people are saying she isn't that good, but maybe Singer can direct something out of her, I'unno.

I'm not the biggest FOX X-Men movies fan, but I really just want a good Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm. So please give me this.

I'm confused why they are young in this movie. Or are they doing more time traveling?

Seems like they just fixed the honked up continuity with the last film and now we're going back to the past with younger Jean, Stor......

Assuming Hugh Jackman is in the movie, it's going to be a tad creepy with Sophie Turner as Jean.

I dig the Cyclops and Jean casting. I don't know who is that playing storm.

Too be frank I'm tired of X-men movies so I don't care who's in this, I'm like 85% sure I'll be skipping this for a long while

Havent heard of the actors for Scott and Storm, so I'll judge them by the trailer and not now. Sophie Turner is good in GOT though so I'm happy she is gunna be Jean.

HATE the casting for Storm, never even heard of the guy playing Cyclops, and I'm ok with Sophie as jean. But seriously, stop casting the most white looking black girls as Storm.

@husk123: I totally agree. I kinda like to think of the "What if?" scenario and think, "Hey, what if Angela Bassett had just accepted the role of Storm in the first X-Men?" Unfortunately that did not happen, maybe she read the script and realized Storm didn't have much to do nor say.

None of this matters, the films will focus on the usuals. Storm, Jean and Cyclops are nothing more than decoration. If we're lucky they might have some focus on Scott and Jean, Storm is there to provide some cool special effects.

Well lets be fair here even in the comics Logan was way older then Jean.

They usually use the whitest black people in movies and film. This is true for any 'ethnic' person. They pick the whitest Asians, Indians, Mexicans, Arabs.

Faux has x-men and I love the x-men hence I'm kinda obligated to hop on, but 10 + years of movies gets taxing. I in no way said it was bad, just taking a break

Since the adult actors were bad, they said it wouldn't be fair to have good child actors as it will not look convincing enough. Storm looks okay but the rest..Urggh

Sophie Turner as Jean is good. I don't know the dude playing Cyclops, but he has some decent movies under his belt so I'm optimistic. But Shipp as Storm...sigh. A couple problems. 1) The obvious: Storm is supposed to be African. Would it be impossible to at least cast someone with a darker complexion? The only credible reason I can see for this is they plan on bringing Halle back as Storm, so they need someone that looks like a young her. But that brings me to my next point...2) Alexandra Shipp is underwhelming as an actress. The Aaliyah biopic was...irredeemable. The Drumline sequel was equally bad. I think they mad a bad choice, but I hope she can prove me wrong.

Tye Sheridan is an amazing actor. Just watch Mud, it's great. This gets me excited that they won't waste Cyclops again
