Report: Oscar Isaac Cast as Apocalypse

It looks like X-Men: Apocalypse now has an actor to play its big bad. We all know En Sabah Nur will be the villain, but now we seem to know who will become the iconic fiend. According to Variety, Oscar Isaac has landed the role in Bryan Singer's next X-Men movie. Singer also called the upcoming film the "most destructive" X-Men movie yet. Also, another report claims a good amount of the movie will revolve around the relationship between Magneto and Mystique.

With some solid makeup and/or CGI, can you picture Isaac as the powerful and intimidating Marvel foe?

Man, this actor is going places. First Star Wars, now X-Men. Can't wait to see how he portrays Apocalypse!

I don't doubt his acting chops, but the dude doesn't look the part.

With CGI they can basically cast anyone as Apocalypse...so no strong feelings either way.

The "Magnique" relationship...I don't particularly enjoy it. I thought the whole point of introducing Azazel in First Class was to reintroduce Nightcrawler as Mystique's son. I also feel like a romantic entanglement with Eric distracts from the development of the ACTUAL X-MEN.

I enjoyed First Class and DOFP for sure, despite some plot holes and questionable choices...and I'll probably geek out just as much for this one, but I'd like to see the focus shift away from the villains and really hone in on the team. Young Jean, Scott and Ororo and maybe a pre-teen Nightcrawler.

I feel like it's inevitable that Wolverine is gonna end up as The Horseman of Death. I'd love to see some nods to other former Horsemen from the comics. Sunfire, Polaris, Thunderbird (he was a former Horseman in Exiles) OR maybe have the deceased Brotherhood resurrected (Azazel, Angel S. & Banshee).

He could also be a Mister Sinister.

Is it racist for me to feel that all Egyptians should be played correctly by black or dark-skinned actors? Even if apocalypse is incorrectly white in the comic books, I think his mutant form looks more black than anything else

This dude is super badass, and looks really good in that upcoming 80s mobster movie, but I'm sure by the time the special effects people are finished there will barely be a remaining fraction of the actor.

He kind of reminds me of Marko from Saga, am I the only that sees this?

@truemarvel: agree with you and its racist to cast otherwise. knew this was going to happen, like its so hard to find a middle eastern/african actor. and its kind of hard to put down the casting cause isaac is a good actor and although light skinned he is a person of color so we will always look like we are in the wrong if we ask for more equality in films sigh.

i think charles howard or luke pasqualino would have been good casting. better yet how about an egyptian actor like Khaled Nabawy or omar shariff jr? but the defenders of this whitewashing will always say "dont know who they are, there arent enough" etc etc. least we forget that every actor gets their start somewhere and i know plenty of people who have no idea who mr. isaac is if we pursue that logic.

@izaiah: italian isnt white in my eyes, especially sicilian which he is. have you seen his skin? and he was kick ass in snowpiercer though he may be a little too young looking depending on what they are doing with the character. the more i think about the more i want howard charles to play the part now. curse my imagination!

Apoc isn't white, he has grey skin due to his mutation.

Anyone thinking the comics made Apocalypse white needs to go do their research. He was born with an unnatural grey skin tone due to his mutation, which led to him being an outcast as a child. There is no part of his history claiming he was a white dude.

I could see oscar isaac more as Mr Sinister than I can as Apocalypse. He's probably gonna be done up in cgi like bill nighy was for Davy Jones in POTC. Why can't they hire Dwayne "the rock" Johnson and James earl Jones to play apocalypse. Body and voice. It would be the perfect duo to bring apocalypse to life

He has to put on a lot of muscle to play apoc. Though I could be wrong. Anyways hope it works out.
