@agent41: Me? I feel fine about it, Wilson is not a writer that sets off my alarm bells and who knows maybe we will get something thats out of the ordinary.
As for begin... well how many people in that other thread were going: "Oh please not her!"
G. Willow Wilson Announced as New Wonder Woman Writer
"When Steve Trevor’s unit goes missing in an Eastern European country torn by revolution, Wonder Woman immediately flies across the globe to help him—only to slam into the brick wall that is Ares, the God of War, who’s taken a strange interest in this conflict. But why is Ares acting so strange? Has he turned over a new leaf? Does Wonder Woman have a chance to redeem him? And just as important…if Ares has returned to Earth, then what happened to the supposedly unbreachable prison built to contain him—Wonder Woman’s homeland, Themyscira?"
Once again an interesting premise that will be under cut by the fact that Diana will be portrayed as a glorified mid-tier rather then a powerhouse with godlike powers. Same problems, different writers.
Cary Nord is a great artist choice though, just saw his Conan work, I can't wait to see his Diana in action. Her artists have been really good thus far in rebirth.
Edit: I suppose I should stop being cynical until the actual work is out there, its not like I'm not going to buy it anyway.
Haven't read much of GWW so I am neutral about this announcement. I do like her Ms Marvel though so thats something. But only time will tell I guess if she can write a good Wonder Woman story or not. Won't judge until atleast a few issues are out. I'm hoping for the best. Lets see how it turns out.
She has written some vixen and couple issues of superman. Maybe I'll pick them up and read to get more idea about her writing.
I have some misgivings about G. Willow Wilson but we’ll see. As for Cary Nord, the work he’s done for DC comics is, to my mind, subpar, if you’re going off of google images, you’ll be very sorely disappointed
@danmarshall: @comicfan_60: @archizooom: At this point is pointless to have negative feelings about anything before actually seeing the material. Wonder Woman fans have been promised the moon and stars before and nothing happened. So all we can do is wait and see what comes out of this. Who knows, it may be good. We have nothing to lose.

What did Greg Rucka do that was bad
Apparently there is more WW stuff happening in October?
I know we already announced Willow's November WW run today, but I just got a batch of interior art on our Wonder Woman-related October Surprise (you'll see in the upcoming solicits!) and WHHHOOOOAAAAAAAA

A boy can dream dang it!!!
Oh boy another disappointing writer for Wonder Woman. Even though Superman has Bendis and Batman has King I feel especially sorry for the Wonder Woman fans who are stuck with yet another unappealing and unexciting writer. Wilson is stuck between "tee hee" silly tween style of writing and the obtuse pandering that have both plagued current Marvel comics. She doesn't have the writing chops to handle the delicate balance of Wonder Woman's character and she's not even a big seller at Marvel. Ms Marvel sells about 20K at best, maybe less, so Wilson isn't going to be making a major boost to the currently lagging Wonder Woman sales. DC's third most iconic hero and she still gets beaten by Green Lantern and Flash consistently in sales.
I expected it halfway, but that does not change the fact that I am still disappointed by this choice from DC. Wilson is not a bad writer in particular but she is one that I do not really enjoy tbh. Her style of writing is the type of stuff that is overflooding Marvel at the moment, and oh boy is that annoying. Her books do not sell well, she writers diverse character for the sake of diversity, she pushes way too far feminism and is just a writer that will push away many regular readers of Wonder Woman in order to satisfy the few who want a feministic LGBT approach to Diana.

@agent41: Wonder Woman has always managed to keep her sales decent because she is part of DC's Trinity. If she was not a part of it she would have had her book cancelled a long time ago due to inconsistent level of interest from people, bad writers coming on board with boring ideas.
Her book did not sell that well in June at all if you consider how popular she is and etc. It came 44th in sales.

I have to say I am a bit surprised to see you say that.
I understand that these things are perhaps not what people would want to take the front seat in Captain Marvel, but in Wonder Woman? I'd have thought there wasn't a more natural fit for this kind of writing?

Asking Wonder Woman not to be feminist or Pro LGBT is like asking the Pope not to be Christian . She comes from an Island of lesbians since 1940.DC will not cancel her book because the rights will revert back to Marston's estate . Also DC earns lot of money from WW merchandise . I am pretty sure DC would have cancelled the book if they could get away with it. So DC will continue publishing Wonder Woman comics monthly as a formality.
@geraldofvengerberg: I don't know how anybody can be negative only because gw will write WW. Because like i said before. Let's be honest, we had some big name writers in some of the previous runs that promised a lot and ended up being average. So at this point we have nothing to lose. Let's wait and see what comes out of this new run.
As far as I know DC tells the plot point and forces the writer to follow it. Half the fault of the current mediocre run is with DC .Geoff Johns should equally get flak for creating Jason .
@geraldofvengerberg: Last time I checked, the Amazons weren’t consistently portrayed as lesbians.
When ?
@truethemyscira: I made a story idea thread just to prove that point.
@geraldofvengerberg: @outside_85: I am not against there being pro-feministic books from any known publisher but at a certain point it gets annoying to read the same thing all over again for the same character. The examples for pro feminism and for Pro-LGBT community from Diana have been pretty much the same throughout all the years and under every writer you can think of. That is why Diana does not have a well distinguished rogues gallery and why most people cannot name more than 4 or 5 essential character stories.
As much as Wonder Woman is the biggest feminist symbol in comic books, she is suffering as much from the same thing. That is where I am coming from, this is the reason for my frustration.
@tdk_1997: There are books with those sales that don't get cancel. Many of them are there in the list you posted. It is a bussiness. If she hasn't been cancelled is because DC thinks her sales are good enough. It didn't happen in the past, it won't happen now that her film was a big hit proving that yes, she can resonate with the general audience. Which is what brings the big coins.
As I said, the characters that suits them to have sales like that are notable characters who have a rich history, tons of fans and are valuable to the publisher. If it wasn't Wonder Woman who we were talking about, those sales would not be satisfying and the book would be just before cancellation.
@tdk_1997: There has not been any feminism in her book for years. The most feminist WW comics is still 1940s . No matter how much Wilson tries ,she is not going to beat Marston in feminism .
The feminism in recent comics include
A) Changing a peaceful feminist technologically advanced island into rapist ,murders who sell their own male babies for primitive weapons
B) Changing her divine fairytale origin that celebrated Motherhood into a product illegal affair.
C) Making her side character to a male character in her own book by Robinson and Geoff Johns
D) Pairing her off with Batman or Superman where she is again made into a side character
I am still struggling to find the feminism that made WW comics bad . I fail to see your point on how feminism or LGBT will ruin the story or her villains .
No, thank you, skipping this run as well.
What do you think about the previous ones?.
Didn't like the Jason arc, that's the basics there of course. The new character felt too forced for me and focused on not necessary aspects of it and then they made him more powerful than Diana (because reasons) he turned into a completely Mary Sue type character with the power of the entire Greek Pantheon, add to that the factor that he has no proper characterisation and brings up no value to the overall narrative, let's just say the run was not that good.
I generaly like Wonder Woman and her mythos, but so far this arc and this new run don't live up to expectations. Not fond of making Ares an anti-hero as well, i liked when he was an Anti-Villain type character, the God of Conflict era of his to be precise.

Jason and all the reasons why i shouldn't even exist
Apparently there is more WW stuff happening in October?
Ohh boy. Please let it be sensation comics.
@masterwitcher88: Sensation Comics? I think Wonder Woman's going monthly so another title wouldn't go amiss
Where did you read its going monthly? So far from the solicits I've seen, its going to be 3.99 twice monthly till september atleast. And GWW's run starts on november 14 which is the 2nd Wednesday of the month which is in the same publishing routine as current.
I hope it doesn't go monthly. I'd be super pumped though if we get a sensation comics.
@comicfan_60: It's just an assumption based on the fact that they only named 1 artist
@comicfan_60: It's just an assumption based on the fact that they only named 1 artist
I see. In any case, I hope it doesn't go monthly again.
