You can see Thanos shifting downard before Cap leaps on him to pull SB, and at 2:45 there's a single shot of Thanos of Thanos on his knees. Thanos is fully gripping Stormbreaker all the way, which is kinda telling for what Thor managed to do, even after getting beat up.
Something nice for Thor in Endgame
@rajjarsalt: Thor even tho he was fat as shit was all on Thanos's ass i saw it..
@marvelanddcfan24: not everyone is good with details,he is just putting it out there for those who can't..
I think Thanos was sort of squatting as opposed to kneeling but yes Thor was slightly bearing down on him. Actually the part after Thanos beats him up and snatches Stormbreaker for a potential killshot, it was a bit impressive that Thor was able to hold him back as long as he did given that Thanos was on top of him using all his weight. It's just annoying that Thor was never shown to be a particularly skilled fighter.
@haveatthee: exactly Thor can go against the best of them in hand to hand combat ....but its a pity they fail on that part tho...actually they fail on a lot of things pertaining to Thor
@rajjarsalt: twice as strong my ass ...who was saying that messs?

There was a whole thread about it IIRC, trying to quantify the difference in strength.
If Thanos were twice as strong he would've stabbed him with Stormbreaker with relative ease. Especially in that position. All his weight and leverage is coming down on Thor (whom he just pummeled) and Thor holds him back just enough (maybe 4-5 seconds?).
