Tell us the first Superman comic that you read.
Mine was:
Hard to say, before I could buy comics I read lots of summaries and looked through countless images and scans to piece together the best interpretation I could of complete Superman stories
I think the first that I bought and owned was Superman Unchained, which was one of the first collected comics I owned
Though I could be very wrong
Red Son but i didn't actually read it, i watched a motion comic video on YouTube lol.
Then the first one i actually read was All Star
The very first comic of Superman I read, was the special edition of Death Of Superman.
After that I did a lot of backtracking while also keeping up with the at the time current comics.
Then I dropped it for a while, picked it up again.
After the New Krypton arc I was ready to drop Superman once again, but when I heard rumours of the reboot I kept on until the reboot.
But after how the New52 was so clearly sabotaged by the people paid to do their job, to help the relaunch come, and now are still rewarded, with Rebirth my only interest is Manhattan. To know how it all started and how it will end.
Can't really say Superman or any Super title as picked up my interest. It's more of the same o' same o'...
I don't even remember to be honest with you. I think it was either H'El on Earth or Kingdom Come or "Down the Boom Tubes" but they got me interested in the character for sure
All-Star.
I used to be one of those people who thought Superman was boring and overpowered but I wasn't vocal about it. While browsing some Superman hate on a forums or something some Superman fans made good points about some Superman detractors like me who dislike the character without knowing much about him and they also proposed All-Star and Birthright as good reads. And that's how I came to read All-Star. It didn't make me love Superman but I've stopped hating him for no good reason.
I think (can't really remember) it was All star for me too, but the Fleischer Superman (I know it's not a comic) is what made me a fan.
Superman Red Son was the first one I read. After that I wanted to get into Superman. I actually asked Squalleon which Superman comics I should read. I was thinking about reading John Byrne's run, but he said he wasn't a fan of it and recommended that I start with Birthright. I ignored him and started on Byrne's Superman anyway hehe. I have since read all of Byrne, most of the major 90's stories, All-Star, and Kingdome Come as well.
Superman: Birthright. Which was, IMO, mediocre garbage, and would've turned me off Superman if I didn't also take a look at Superman: Earth One. That was also pretty average, but it showed me a glimpse of potential with Superman's character that Mark Waid's Super-magnum-opus didn't. I've since read better stories with Superman, although none of them particularly outstanding, but Superman holds great potential as a character as as I'm concerned.
