Superman Manga?? Can it work?

I recently went across an article in bleeding cool that detailed a new Manga called Batman & the Justice League (That title annoys me so much) to be an ongoing and I was at first excited but then a little worried.

While his crossover into Manga is pretty cool how exactly will he work? I can't vision how Superman would look, act, or even feel as a Manga character. And the rest of the League for that matter. My guess is it's going to be a Shounen Manga so I'm really interested in seeing the portrayal but also kinda concerned his portrayal (considering it's N52) will fall into Naruto-esque territory. I hope I'm wrong though.

It's really a thing. Trying to build hype for the film's release. However I think the character designs look awful.

Could it work? Sure. Is it gonna? . . . eh, Teshirogi's Saint Seiya work shows that she's very well acquainted with ensemble pieces, and is quite respect when handle other's work. So, despite Bruce's name having top billing there's an honestly chance that everyone will get there shine. I don't know, Teshirogi wouldn't honestly have been my first, second, or third choice, but they could have done much worse.

God those drawings of the Justice League look horrible. They all look like they're still in high school, seeing the New 52 costumes in a manga art style makes me realise how bad they really are. Manga/anime adaptations of Western comic superheroes are clearly a mixed bag. Marvel seem to have the better luck.

I've seen my fair share of manga and anime art and that art is butt ugly. Why is everyone's heads so tiny and childlike? And don't tell me that's manga style. There are plenty of manga that have adults who actually look their age and not like child heads drawn on bodybuilder bodies. Hopefully, that is just a bad promo drawing and not entirely indicative of the internal art.

@rdclip: I have seen my share as well, and I agree with you. That type of manga style while popular, should not be the be all, end all of what a potential Superman manga can be. We had a bat-manga at some point, and we also had Katsuhiro Otomo draw a black and white Batman short at one point.

Personally, I would love to see Naoki Urasawa tackle the Man of Steel, because of his human-like characters and psychological narratives, (note I don't want a dissection of Superman, but rather a Lex Luthor who can psychologically contend with him.

I would also like the dude doing One Punch Man to do it, thanks to his great choreography and dynamic style.

Not with that art. Plus it makes me wonder what kind of manga it'd be. If it's one of those Shonen manga then I'd get very annoyed very quickly. Like the whole thing about everyone just standing and watching and commenting on a one on one fight when they could all just join in to help instead.
