I was surfing through CV and saw some Ed McGuinness art

....yuk. Anyway, I've noticed that with the New 52 most versions toned it down and he has more of an athletic build.

Personally, what body type do you prefer he have?

Aaron Kuder even drew Pre 52 Superman a lot bigger than his New 52 version.

Jim Lee artwork is always amazing, and he draws Superman with such art and talent that it's impossible not to be in awe.

Michael Turner run with Superman also brought some of the best artwork I've seen of Superman.

Lobdell run in the N52 Superman brought till now the best in terms of beauty of characters. Not only Superman but all other characters.

Much better than the current look of Superman, that is for the lack of a better word, painstakingly to see.

I like Superman big and with no more muscle definition than Henry Cavill. I like all the Supermans that resemble him.

Forgot about that one. Thanks. Kuder's art is also good to see.

What really makes my eyes bleed is Klaus Janson/John Romita current run in Superman.

Jim Lee draws New 52 Supes the same size as Pre 52 Supes IMO. Though to,answer your question if your strong enough to move a mountain like it's an empty can of cola then you you should look powerful.

I like Superman big and sweaty, preferably shirtless with a nice patch of hair on his chest.

Since the subject of Superman and Clark Kent has been brought up a lot recently I remember seeing how a certain artist draws Clark shirtless as opposed to with his armor on.

Armor Off
Armor Off
Armor on
Armor on

I'd actually be fine with the armor adding muscle mass and CLark not having huge muscle definition but just an athletic looking body.

Tall (6'4-6'6"), a thick V-shape, square-jawed, thick shoulders and neck, large hands, long limbs. Mature adult (as opposed to young adult).

To me Superman is like the perfect man, not just the perfect human, so I prefer him in his ultra-masculine phases, which allows him to pass Clark off as doughy rather than svelt.

Artist-wise, Curt Swan or Alex Ross.

I am OK with the less-ripped Superman Ross draws, but truth be told I like the bodybuilder look (albiet a bodybuilder with Adonis-like proportions to match his Zeus-like triceps.)

I like some of Jim Lee's depictions. Kenneth Rocafort is one of my favorite artists on Superman; I like how handsome he makes Superman, like a 1950s catalogue model.

Lol left yourself open wide for length jokes here, Saint :-)

Now, how I’m imagine Superman to look:

Height – rather tall, about 6’4 or 6’6.

Build – prefer athlete/swimmer body type, with well-developed and prominent muscles, but not some meathead bodybuilder.

Curl – now, personally I like that, it looks definitive for Superman, but – why only single curl? Conjures some stupid images of Clark ironing his hair in super speed when putting uniform and going into action. So, I’ll like to see Clark having wavy hair, with some small curls here and there and most prominent one hanging on his forehead.

In short, New-52 Superman drawn by Rocafort works just fine for me.

I don't really have a preference. They all seem good to me except Frank Miller's version. My favorite I guess my favorites would be how Darwyn Cooke draws him and how he looked in the Bronze Age.
