New Supergirl Promo Video Surfaces

Yesterday, we go an in-depth look at what the new Supergirl television show on CBS will look like. The CBS Upfront clip was cut together for press and potential advertisers for the new show. Now, what looks like a more straightforward promo was leaked onto the net.

In the video, Kara explains why she went to go work for Cat Grant and Jimmy Olsen tells Kara she looks a bit like her cousin, Superman. Kara uses her powers to save a plane that is about to crash. Kara continues to help people and ends up heading to the DEO, which protects Earth from extra-terrestrial invasion. We get to see the suit in action as she takes on either a meta-human or another alien, who is super tough. It seems like it's pretty much the whole plot for the pilot episode.

It's low quality, but we'll keep you updated when an official video gets uploaded, most likely within the next 24 hours. Supergirl will hit CBS this fall and will air on Monday nights at 8PM.

I think they did the Danvers thing just to piss off marvel. I'm shocked that doesn't step on any copy rights.... I see what they did there

Supergirl flew more in this trailer than Thor has in 4 movies.

Um, Supergirl was called Linda Lee Danvers in the Silver Age.

They just went with Kara Danvers because she's more known as Kara and she can't use Kent as an alias when she's not hiding who she is.

Is Kara older than Kal in this? She was 12 when she left Krypton and Kal was just an infant.

Marvel copied DC by calling her Carol Danvers, an amalgamation of Kara Zor-El and Linda Lee Danvers.

DC is just mocking Marvel.

Supergirl earth name is Linda Lee Denvers and her Kryptonian name is Kara Zor El. So DC use Denvers name first

Not happy with Toyman & Henshaw being there. They'll probly pull a Caitlin Snow & never turn them evil. Or worse, a prolonged heel turn like Smallville did with Lex that never worked. I'm just going to tell myself that Henshaw is really just John Henry Irons.

also, rather have Kara have Lexi as her love interest, we dont need girl Lex, & some nice girl on girl would be Hot.

Hope we get Matrix, Cir-El, & a "Linda" In-Ze. Maybe even a Kaitlin Fairchild & Miss Martian.Form a team with Natasha Irons & Traci13 & they can lay around in their underwear after battles & gossip about boys.

& maybe CBS can grow their own shared universe with a Cassandra Cain, or Misfit, & Donna Troy. Have an older Kara time travel & recruit the young female sidekicks into a team called Girl-Power for an upcoming crisis.

Just wish Super GIRL was younger, around 16.Would rather an early Buffy feel to seperate the show's feel to Oliver, Barry, even Liv Moore.

The thing that annoys me about Flash is how similar the characters are, Malcom/Wells , Joe-Iris/the Lances, Cisco an unfunny Felicity, I guess Diggle to Kaitlin. Its the same formula, & I assume it'll be similar here as well.

& Kal-El should be EVIL, be UltraMan or Powerman instead of Superman. Maybe have him try to find Kara to adam & Eve a new race to rule earth.

Marvel needs to step it up. Other than DD, their tv is lacking & what they have is just crappy spy shit.

@cobramorph: For them to use Power Girl, Supergirl would have needed to be established beforehand. So then we'd be right back to this.

"Kara Danvers." Am I the only one who thinks that this whole show feels a little uninspired? I'd buy this being a made-for-TV sequel to that movie My Super Ex-Girlfriend. The title character's acting seems a bit overwrought, like she's trying too hard to sell the "just-a-normal-girl-in-the-city" bit.

Of course, I'll watch the first episode just to justify my preconceptions (same deal I gave Arrow, which I instantly hated from the first two episodes), but until one of CW's workers wises up and says, "Hey, maybe we shouldn't be too glib in the tone of the show? Just maybe?" I'll keep my eyes out for another Marvel masterpiece. I'm hoping after they finish production of the Jessica Jones/Luke Cage show and Defenders, that they focus on Moon Knight, the New Warriors, or anyone believable enough to warrant a show.

That said, create a TV show about Static with the aforementioned CW guys and girls who don't think up the cheesiest lines, or with Jaden Smith as Virgil, and then I'll be 150% on board with whatever else you crank out.

i got really mad at that dark figure of superman (from the other trailer of supergirl) thats how you mock Superman fans who are dying (and myself) for a live action tv show and smallville does not count (even though im more of a batman fan but i like superman as well) im seeing a trend here from all of the dc shows like arrow and Gotham are just making supporting characters into main characters which is so frustrating to me this is why DC will never compete with Marvel because of there frustrated and flawed directions

I just think they didn't think the name through that well...considering the Captain Marvel movie, with CAROL Danvers, is going to by without question WAY higher profile than this show. I know she used the name in the comics, but she had quite a few names and they could've went with something like Kara Lang...or something.

But this show might not even survive all the way to 2018, so it probably won't matter.

(For the record, I hope it does. I love Supergirl.)
