Marvel Announces Squirrel Girl Book

When Squirrel Girl is around, the baddest of the bad in the Marvel Universe tremble with fear. This member of the Great Lakes Avengers is a huge fan favorite and we've all been wondering "where in the heck has she been?" Entertainment Weekly announced that Marvel is finally giving the woman who beat Doctor Doom and Thanos her own book: THE UNBEATABLE SQUIRREL GIRL.

Writer Ryan North and artist Erica Henderson will be tackling this character in the new series that promises to be a ton of fun. Squirrel Girl first appeared in MARVEL SUPER-HEROES #8 back in 1992, but it wasn't until 2005, when she appeared in G.L.A. where fans really took notice and started to love this character. During that run, she did some awesome and quite funny things and became the character that beat some of Marvel's toughest villains. She's appeared here and there since then, but nothing stands out as much as her involvement in that Great Lakes Avengers run from almost a decade ago.

What can we expect from this new book? Hopefully, we're going to see some of her old teammates in this book as well. However, we aren't too sure, yet. Luckily, we'll have a lot more info about this series tomorrow. Here's some cover images for the upcoming series for you too gaze upon.

Finally confronted with the truth by Deadpool (who is the only one able to see through her reality warping) after she brings several dead villains to life to defeat them again, she snaps. "No more bad guys," she whispers, obliterating nearly all life, any sentient being who has ever sinned, from across all the multiverses. Now in a multiverse made up of almost exclusively children, her nanny service is really going to start picking up.

This'll be a great book.

Fox doesnt Own the Invisible woman, they own the movie rights that has nothing to do with comic books.

Hey, if it works then great, if it doesn't then who cares. Good for Marvel for giving it a shot. It's likely more of a mini-series, but who knows.

Also, did I miss something on the art? I see a few complaints about it, yet I don't see a single page of interior art here.

@armiv2: look at the artwork. Hulk, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Captain America and Iron Man looks horrible. How can you accept it so easily ?

Didn't see that coming, but it's not my thing so I'll pass. Might pick up a trade later on.

@captainmarvel4ever: It is not related to movie rights. Fantastic Four comics doesn't sell well. That is why it is cancel. Look at Spidey and X-men. Both franchise Disney wish they have but it is not under Disney. The comics sales for both franchise is huge that is why they are not cancel

Because I don't have a problem with the style. I see it as being heavily stylized and I'm totally cool with that.

@boynerdgeek: I've tracked the numbers, and Fantastic Four is selling fine. Also they don't have any issues with Fox and the X-men, and since Sony has complete and utter ownership of Spidey in all regards, Marvel has to keep Spider-Man at the forefront of Marvel.

@captainmarvel4ever: Fantastic Four is not sales well as Marvel expected. Also if you realise the statistics of F4 comics sales, each month they drop rapidly. Also since new characters like Miss Marvel etc sales better than F4 show that Marvel have better franchise to push to the public and how F4 popularity is decreasing. As much I love F4 this is truth and facts
