Lance hadn't come for the therapy. In truth, while he knew he wasn't sane, he just enjoyed filling his time. He'd done the same with AA (despite a continuing addiction to alcohol), NA (despite never having picked up a drug in his long, long life), Gamblers Anonymous (maintaining a weekly poker game) and the most fun,  SAA, (which he 'relapsed' with frequently). But much like walking in to Mordor, one simply did not pass up the opportunity to be psychoanalyzed.

My name? Lancelot. Lancelot Lacey. I'm here because I feel abused. My last girlfriend tried to kill me, and I'm afraid of getting a restraining order. She's sent several people to my apartment to collect money I 'owe' her.. it's rather unpleasant.

@The Psyentist: I pick fights I know I can't win. I put myself in the line of fire just for the hell of it. But mostly, at this point, I wish that after living this long, I'd finally just die. I'm old. Old enough to know that the mind has power. Old enough to know that I'm coming here by choice, not by necessity.

@The Psyentist: Have you ever closed your eyes, only to get minuscule little flashes of every bad deed you've ever done? Or gone to bed, only to wake up five minutes later feeling like a part of you is missing? Short of breath, cold, save for the fresh new burn you'd never seen before? It's hell. Literally, so far as I can tell.

"I wonder if personal meditation or self-hypnotism could be of any help to you? Getting control of your own mind and body can be a powerful tool. Learn how your mind works. Then you can control where your thoughts go. If "release" is impossible, it would seem an alleviation of the symptoms, at least for a short time, would be beneficial."

@The Psyentist: Doesn't that assume that I don't meditate already? Focus on my breathing, try not to control the length, in and out. Of course the kids downstairs going at it like jack rabbits doesn't help things.

Go into your mind, away from everything else. There is a certain brainwave frequency, quite similar to the early stages of sleep. There is an emptiness there. But it does not necessarily mean it is a frightening or even a peaceful place. There, it is what you make it. You may even no longer exist in your own consciousness. This is meditation to the point of self-hynosis. Hypnosis is very controversial and not effective on some. I have only been able to achieve it myself a couple of times and for only a brief time." She looks at him. "Does this sound like something you can do?"

@The Psyentist: I've tried a lot of things. Meditation. Drinking myself in to oblivion. Meditation, hypnotism, shock therapy, All the stuff the nice doctors recommend. I need someone more aggressive.
