Then:
"Focus Rina!" growled Gambler. The acrobatic Cajun easily side stepping her lazy jab before sweeping her legs. "Dee ability to anticipate your opponent's next move is what separates dee elite from dee worthless. Your magical prowess is second to none chere, but you need to expand your repertoire. Tactics, strategy, manipulation, dee mind can be a powerful weapon in dee hands of someone who knows how to use it. Now, try again."Gambler continued to push the mentally unstable sorceress despite the fact that she was emotionally fragile. Her most recent breakdown had nearly destroyed the World and everyone in it. Yet her untapped potential was unmeasurable and Gambler knew if he could control her mind, he could control her power. But the task had proven more complicated then originally anticipated. As the young spawn of Arrow hit the floor once again she lashed out. "ENOUGH!" she snapped, sticking her tongue out. The room instantly turning black with a purple tint overcasting the walls while winds began to swirl forming small vortex's. "Rina, stop dis!" ordered the Living Legend. "No no no no no, my turn to drive Gamby." she mocked, as she hurled her mentor across the room pinning his body against the wall with an unseen force.
As she devilishly rubbed her check alongside the Cajun's face she smirked, "Did you anticipate that?" Continuing to dance around the room she sang, "Diiiiiid youuuuu anticipate thaaaaat? Did you aaaaaanticipate thattttttt?" Looking past Rina and smiling Gambler replied, "Actually, yeah, I kinda did. Welcome Arrow, glad you could join us." Caught off guard Rina whirled around releasing her hold on Gambler. "Father I...." But before she could react to the fact that there was nobody there she felt the cold chill of Gambler's blade at her throat. "Your fear of your father makes you weak young one. Dat is something we will need to address next session no?"
As Gambler wiped the sweat from his face Rina approached him, eager to share with him a vision that had been plaguing her thoughts. Without warning she reached out and touched the back of his head. Instantly his mind was flooded with images of future events. He saw the one time leader of the Vine Villains, Darkchild, dead, fully displayed in the center of a burned down castle. He saw an epic war between heroes and villains, the World burning, a glove crafted from the right hand of a legendary figure, four gems lining the knuckles, and then, it was gone. Empty, nothingness.
"Wha, what was dat?" he questioned. "The future silly Gambler, the future."
Now:
Sitting at his lavish Victorian era desk, fingers interlocked, the King of Kings stared straight ahead in an almost trance like state. Resting peacefully safely encased in a small glass tomb, the skeletal remains of Darkshild's hand stared back. The Cajun had spent countless hours and resources tracking down any and all information pertaining to the prophecy of legendary Infinity Gems. The timing was perfect, as most of the World's heroes were otherwise occupied. Hunter and several of his Wolf Pack had been abducted and presumed dead, Kurrent and others were entering the final stages of the KoV tournament, and the Ice Dragons were still seemingly lost without the leadership of Andferne. With the World still trying to piece itself back together and Gambler's Initiative still playing the role of savors, there was no one left to take a deeper look at the Cajun's true intentions. His Illuminati had infiltrated every corner of the globe and had easily obtained the locations of the Gems. Two resided deep within the Vatican vaults, and one was buried under the foundation of the former government sponsored Zero Squad headquarters. Slowly Gambler pulled open the top right drawer of his desk unleashing a resonating beam of emerald light before removing the fourth Gem and flashing his Cheshire cat grin as he looked it over. However, as Gambler arrogantly believed himself untouchable, a force from the future was being directed back to the past in hopes of warning those who would make a stand against the Master of Manipulation.
