@juno_fei: Cool, that does make sense.
@cutting_edge: Honestly, some of the time the voices I have in my head for characters change over time, or with different contexts and things. Not always, but sometimes it happens.
TBH it kinda could almost be considered a cop-out answer because it wouldn't be the first time I've heard her voice as the definitive voice in my head for one of my characters...but then again, she's probably my favourite voice actress out of any, ever, and I also feel like it just works here, rather than being my "placeholder because I don't have any other in mind" answer. But for Valentina it'd have to be Laura Bailey, because she's got what I'd consider a perfect range, just as standard and for a lot of the roles Valentina plays. (Also I low-key wish I had her voice.)
To push a few ejemplos,
I'd say by default (not counting the made up accent I sometimes toy with in my head), the closest approximation would be the way she did Saints Row (almost certainly nsfw language)
And when she's playing someone like "Juniper," or stepping into any other role where it's more of a meek, a soft-spoken or timid persona, it's more like Laura's normal voice. Especially because occasionally her voice jumps juuuust slightly higher than normal pitch; so it can have a youthful, a playful, or timid, or mischievous, but namely a really innocent quality. (As heard below.)
And of course, Valentina also frequently shows more serpentine/sinister qualities. She plays temptress. Or spiteful. Or she gets angry, vitriolic, seething. Belittling, mockingly derisive, et cetera. I first remember hearing Laura as Lust on Fullmetal Alchemist, and even to this day, to me, that sultry drawl is the epitome of sexy. Sinister, subtly frightening, even somber; any number of things, but shaded with that particular lens. I think, "that's what a succubus would sound like." And that's kinda what Valentina is a lot of the times, she's like a human succubus. (More and more, I realize as time goes on, she's inadvertently taken many of those qualities, including screwing around with souls.) Often, I hear her more like so:
@_dirge_: Uuuhh, Vincent has been Steve Blum in my head ever since Abby met him and I learned he had that depressed self-loathing thing. It just works.
