Side note, I really missed this Panther. ^
He felt significantly different in his solo film to me.
So it'a not just me.

He had less weight behind him. He was straight up intimidating in Civil War, but in Black Panther, he could get bounced all over the place. They just made him feel softer.

That's one of the unique aspects of BP's powerset to me. He was agile yet implacable at times. Not the strongest, but he didn't need to be
The best thing about the Counter thread is that it's one of the only ones where you can write an enemy attack failing completely. Can be pretty fun.
I prefer to partially sell the attack in that thread. I like what Backstabber does with selling at least the threat of his attack and getting by just the skin of his teeth.

Regarding Counter, if I were writing a street leveler I'd probably do the same out of instinct by this point. With Nemo it's just so fun to make use of his speed and invulnerability combo in a way that I won't in a normal RP.
@supra-man: Oh, without a doubt. The final scene with the two falling was great. I liked how the depicted and told Vibranium. I loved how the world was built and the aesthetic design of the characters. But there are some elements to the movie that make it less than a masterpiece in my eyes. Definitely not above TWS like some sites seem to say.
Counter, yeah. I can say on the flipside. I do like going up against high tiers who launch attacks that seem unsurvivable and then surviving them. Kind of all depends on who I go up against. Really, the more powerful the attack, the more likely I am to utterly no sell it, ironically. I've noticed that.
@maverick_6: There's a need to jab in CV fights. I prefer to escalate as they go on, like telling a story within the story. Light hits first, special moves later.

Very much this.
Hm... idea.
@kaija: It's like charging your ult bar in a fighting game lol
Eh.
I'm pretty guilty of launching powerful attacks from the start. Sometimes, it can serve the narrative purpose of setting the scene. Especially for those "Here they come!" Or "Incoming!" type moments. I remember fighting Orpheus, I nuked his satellites out of space and them began the scene by orbitally bombarding him. Then, I proceeded to move in as I set forth a scene of utter chaos, grey, irradiated looking skies and all.
I feel you can launch powerful attacks at first, especially for those "He/She isn't playing around" or "What are you doing?" Moments. It's just, I don't think you should expect such attacks to work or throw them out so constantly. They'll lose weight.

I think maybe it makes more sense to do stuff like that if you've encountered the character beforehand (directly or indirectly), so that sense of escalation is still there. I can definitely see combat pragmatists opening with their strongest move, but if it comes down to individual preference, I like the buildup.
I'm being so extra trying to come up with this great blog post
Who wants to go back and forth somewhere?
For me, I often go for lethality with my attacks early on, but not so much the power... if that makes sense?
Like, I don't have a problem trying to run a knife into a guy's throat turn 1 or something that has the potential to be lethal, but I'm not gonna use the mega death ray or crazy hax or anything like that when I can try to off you with something much simpler at the onset.
I like build-up too. Also, you know how much I love grounded CQC, lol. Even if I have magic, I'm liable to try to lay you out with a punch all the same.
My job and real life experiences can play into what I write.
I've had a couple opportunities to don the boat's full Firefighting Ensemble and SCBA move around it. Boy, is the inside of that thing hot. It might keep the heat out in case of a real fire but boy, that thing does the same to keep the heat in. All that sweat you drum up makes you hot. Heat makes you breath more. Breathing more means you have less oxygen. (Cardio is important.)
This is to speak nothing of the EAB, which I have nothing of EABs, which, which have no tanks. Instead it's an airtight mask, a set of gloves and long cord in which I can plug into various oxygen supplying manifolds all around the boat. So when I run around with it unplugged, I have no oxygen and around 30 seconds to find one before I A) Suffocate B) Have to rip the mask off. (Cardio is even more important.)
This played quite a bit into my writing when I tried to depict the effects of running around in full body armor and I wanna write about how shitty that would be without some sort of cooling system.
There should be some type of rule against copying every concept from universes. I don't expect you to be Stephen King or anything, but at least try to come up with your own stuff.
I mean if people actually cared enough about this forum they could ravage it by biting entire concepts and stuff.
@xzenix-everdeen: I know that'd get shut down in the CVU. Never was much of a problem in the nU either.
English, Martian Hunter, do you speak it?
@supra-man: Hence why I said if people actually cared. RPG is like an island that very few seem to care about, haha.
And I know it wouldn't last, I was just taking shots at that Gokluma person and how he's destroying the WDYCT topic. Him and Contingency to be exact.
@xzenix-everdeen: I think that issues with WDYCT, sparse as they are, honestly have more to do with the frequency a person decides to post in there rather than the character itself.
You should talk to them about it, if it's important to you. I'm sure a consensus can be reached.

Pretty much, yeah.

Been there, done that. Not here but other places of CV. Every time I spoke out about a problem I had I was seen as the villain more times than not.
Honestly, it's just something I wanted to say for the longest. If I wanted to confront them, it would've been done by now.
All I can tell you is to be authentic. That can mean brutal honesty when dealing with some people, or it can mean discretion when talking to others. Nobody is the same, and you can't treat everyone the same way. It's hard, frustrating, and takes a lot of practice, but it's doable.
@xzenix-everdeen: For life in general and in particular CV (And the military lol)
The key is in how you say things.
You can have the most valid point in the world and it can be dismissed because the way you say it.
