The Outcast Haven, Farmington, Connecticut (Outcast Group Location)

Originally strangers, five teenagers would find their lives irreversibly changed and intertwined after an otherworldly threat attacked the Academy they all attended. They banded together in the crisis, a bond fire-forged through spilled blood and the desire to survive, to get out alive. After the Crisis, feeling like they could never go back to the way things were, the five vowed to stay together. They hung on the fringes of the Academy, between the divides of the Houses and aside from their differences. They became The Outcasts.

The Founding Five:

Juno Beatrice Fei

A notorious smuggler, contraband dealer and most recently, a blood witch. Juno found herself being the one that united the rest of The Outcasts during the Mari Crisis. The same crisis where she was injured, and forever bonded to The Staff of Blodam, an ancient and powerful magic artifact that belongs to a nefarious demon of the same name. She would go on to find the Haven where The Outcasts would call home, electing herself to become the house’s caretaker, smuggler and resource handler for supplies. Juno finds herself struggling with her greed and moral depravity, things she started to question after attending the Academy. All the while coping with her hidden feelings for her business partner, Venila.

Venilia AKA "Ven"

The imperfect goddess, the broken Amazon and the “Ruby’s Battleaxe.” Venilia joined the Outcast’s bid for survival for fellow member Juno, the two having become “business partners” very shortly before the Crisis started. During the Crisis, Venilia had discovered that there was far more to her cloned heritage than she originally thought, now dedicated to exploring her origins further. Since moving into the Haven, Venilia serves as the house’s top muscle and guard for the property. Venilia struggles with her origins, and the purpose she was made for. She continues to be torn between her creator’s objectives, and the desire to forge her own path in life. In between this, Venilia also struggles to hide the affection she holds for her business partner, Juno.

Richard "Reed" Riley AKA Micro-Man

Genius, tactician and explorer of the quantum realm. Reed found himself roped into the Outcasts by his only friend, Juno, his revolutionary shrinking technology playing a key role in their bid for survival. After the Crisis, Reed remained with the group to continue exploring his neglected emotions through the comradery he suddenly had with his newfound friends. Since moving into the Haven, Reed took up the responsibility of being the resident “tech guy” and scientist. A victim of his own intellect, Reed suffers from multiple disorders, leaving him emotionally stunted as a result. His daily struggle is to balance his unwavering logical reasoning, and the emotions that he’s neglected for so long. The largest example being his secret love for fellow Outcast, Juno.

William “Will” Lebeau AKA Red Jay

The orphan, the flawed vigilante and the Diamond’s Rebel. Will was drafted by Juno just before the Mari Crisis, being just a kid who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He quickly found himself at home with the group, realizing that these people were worth sticking around for, maybe even a family. Will spent the majority of the Crisis with Juno and Venilia, just trying to survive whatever nightmares were thrown their way. Since moving into the Haven, Will has become the house’s spy master, intel gatherer and scout. Will suffers from severe disillusionment and angst from his harsh past, coping by living a hedonistic lifestyle to numb his trauma. To this day, he still tries to find a purpose in life outside of the primal instinct to fight and live another day.

Ozzy “Oz” Manuel Diaz

The trickster, the manipulator and by far the most enigmatic member of The Outcasts. Oz found himself mixed up in the Crisis at the behest of the speedster known as Alex West. After the Crisis had ended, Oz decided to stay with the group at the chance of getting closer to who he admired, Venilia. Despite moving in with the rest of The Outcasts, he tends to “go for walks” that last for days at a time, not really taking up any responsibility around the household. While secretive about it, Oz is at odds with his own shattered psyche, a mysterious force plaguing the furthest reaches of his mind. Whenever he does find himself at the Haven, he’s often trying to stir the pot among the rest, especially when it comes to tampering with Venila’s emotions.

The Haven

The “Haven”, as The Outcasts call it, is a derelict 19th century mansion with an overgrown acreage deep within the woods outside of Farmington, Connecticut. It happens to be a half-hour drive to the Academy, perfect for The Outcasts who still attend their classes. The history behind the mansion is unknown, as there is no real record or evidence as to who it’s previous owners could have been. From what little details have been found, it belonged to a family of wealth and higher class, who lived in the mansion for generations. The furniture, technology and decor dates up to the late 70’s, clearly around the time it was abandoned for whatever reason.

Exterior:

The exterior of the Haven is discreet to say the least. While clearly made out of marble columns and fine white stone, the mansion has been heavily overgrown. So much overgrown, it’s nearly impossible to discern the building from the trees that smother it. This is notably odd, if the minuscule evidence is to be believed, the mansion should not be as overgrown as it is from the time it was abandoned.

Interior:

Inside, the Haven is incredibly vast in regards to space. Three massive levels, one of which is underground, with over twenty large and small rooms. Among the many accommodations are a huge foyer, a kitchen, dining hall, motor pool, multiple master bedrooms, a study, an overgrown greenhouse and so on. Due to the mansion’s strange preservation at the hands of nature, the furniture inside is relatively unscathed, the exception being some dust and gradual wear. While the power and water were originally shut off, apparently from the previous owners, it was simple to start them back up to Farmington’s grid.

Juno's hidden armory and bunker

Probably the most surprising addition to the Outcast's living space, is the abandoned bunker and armory that had been left behind for years past. It was the perfect area to store smuggled goods and weapons, hence why the Haven was used as a smuggling outpost for so long since the group had claimed it. Since moving in, Juno has gone ahead and refurbished the bunker, and has started storing her own smuggled wares and product inside it's secure walls.

Layered with feet of thick cement, the bunker rests underneath the entire Haven, and even some of the forest surrounding it. It has various hidden access points, which are only known to Juno, with security measures put in place for her to keep it that way...

Rules and Information

• This thread was designed as a place for The Outcasts to conduct their personal character development and interactions among themselves.

• With that being said, this location is not to be found by other characters on a whim or with ease. It is, after all, a no name mansion that’s been consumed by a forest and is completely off the map as far as the rest of the State is concerned. It’s not exactly something a character would run in to, or stumble upon.

• No serious destruction of the thread.

• No random or unwarranted attacks on The Haven. If you wish for your character to attack this location, please PM me or any other member and we can discuss your intentions.

• On the other side of that, if you wish for your character to visit this location, you can PM me or any other member about that as well. I’m certain we can work something out ^_^

Farmington, Connecticut, some no name back road...

Juno rapidly blinked her shrouded eyes, feeling them grow heavier with every second she drove the Van. Sleep had been nearly impossible since bonding with The Staff, always feeling it watching her as she tried to rest. It was unnerving to say the least, feeling like she had a gun pointed at her head while she laid in bed. It wasn't enough for Juno to continue being stubborn, insisting that she was the only one allowed to drive her own Van.

Inside the notorious smuggling vehicle were her comrades, her allies, her friends. Today was the big day, where the witch would fulfill her promise to the group, and reveal the hidden getaway she had been telling them all about since it happened. The entire vehicle had been silent for most of the trip, something Juno hardly noticed. The dealer was so focused on not falling asleep behind the wheel, she hadn't even glanced at Venilia, who sat shotgun next to her. She didn't even look into the rear mirror to see what the boys were up to.

The sun was finally beginning to set, the group having left The Academy at the end of their school day. Finally, Juno spoke up with a tired tone in her voice.

"We're fifteen minutes out..."

Venilia rested her forehead against the passenger's window, her striking blue eyes following every pine tree that whooshed by. Above the moving van, a great battle waged between Nox and Dies which resulted in sunset. The two Protogenoi's circled around each other in a wrestling stance, catching their breath from the intense scuffle. Rushing into each other, their foreheads clashed - the combustion from the impact was severe enough to create the red and orange hues in the moving sky.

Inside the van, not one person uttered a word, not even a sound. All five students had surrendered to exhaustion from berating each other for most of the road trip. The Amazon on the other hand was still filled with volatile energy, her godhood sustaining her entire essence. If she wanted she could reignite the tension trapped inside the van, and scold the guys for hours. She still held a grudge against Ozzy for betraying her for Mari, and she made sure to remind him of his treachery. There was a time she had strong hidden feelings for the illusionist, but those days were gone.

Her argument with Will was one that puzzled even the Sphinx, a mythical creature that held an enigmatic mind. She blamed him for getting injured during the convulsion in the lab, literally. "What was the point of saving you if you were going to get injured anyway?" It was a question she repeatedly asked him during the ride. Reed, there was so much hatred and envy in her heart for the boy genius. An Oracle would say she inherited the hamartia of her third clone source, who once orchestrated the death of a man for winning the affection of his sister.

Venilia blamed Dexter for Juno's injuries, for not protecting her during the lab incident. She had to believe everything that happened during their escape from Mari's plague was his fault. "How could it not be? I'm perfect," Was a reminder she had to tell herself to avoid a mental breakdown. It was a theatre mask she put on to conceal the truth she was imperfect, a clone made in an Imperium lab. In her twisted mind, she did not make mistakes. Leaving the group behind to buy time was the best course of action, while every flaw in the plan was Reed's fault. Juno injured, his fault. Will foolishly pulling out a large piece of glass from his stomach, his fault. Ozzy being left behind, his fault. If she bore any responsibility for Juno's injury, she would have pushed herself away.

For most of the adventure, Juno took no part in the constant bickering that consumed the van. There was no mention of Will ruining the vehicle, or even the eerie staff that followed her everywhere. The relationship between the Battle Axe of the Rubies and the Dark Angel of Contraband had not improved since the incident. They never got the chance to talk, or patch up the tension between them. That angered and hurt the imperfect goddess, feeding into the various insecurities she buried within her. Juno never once told her about the voices in her head, or her relationship with Reed and the staff. They were suppose to be partners, yet they were keeping secrets from each other.

Worse of all, the two have been acting like total strangers since Mari possessed the student body. One was busy punishing herself for her conflictions and consumed by Alex, while the other was intrigued and consumed by the staff. When her crush did finally reach out, Venilia ignored her for a whole day. She didn't answer her calls, text messages, or open the door when she knocked. It hurt her tremendously, to ignore someone she was falling for. But when Juno came back, she was burying the feelings of Helena and Catalina. The feelings she believed made her weak and were clouding her mind.

One could argue if Juno waited any longer, she would have lost the Amazon for good. It was the last text message she woke up to that brought life to her heart again. The two met, and Juno managed to convince her to come with her on a road trip to some hidden getaway. At first she thought the two were going to talk, patch things up, and maybe..."No, you can't." She had to remind herself, attempting to push back against her emotions. But then she found out they had company tagging along and it ruined everything.

The only reason she was in the van now was because she discovered Reed was coming, and...she was afraid of Juno and him coming back to the Academy as a couple. "We're fifteen minutes out..."Juno announced weakly, disrupting the long period of silence. Pushing her forehead away from the window, the Battle Axe of the Rubies turned her face toward the driver seat. The Salem Witch's face was glued to the road, her fossilized eyes (amber) experiencing fatigue. The weariness in her tone was enough to catch the Amazon's attention. Her skin was sickly pale, almost if she had a "soul draining" encounter with Thanatos. Rumor has it Ven's "mother," Helena, had once encountered the Greek Personification of Death at a funeral.

The tissue below her eyelids were swollen and darker than the grape of wine Bacchus drunk from his goblet. Venilia knew she wasn't sleeping ever since she received the staff, and that bothered her. The Battle Axe of the Rubles believed only she deserved sleepless nights, not her crush. In her electric blue eyes, Juno was too much of a better person to be obsessive over a dumb staff. She wasn't aware of it's nature, but she already despised the scepter. It stole their time together, their partnership. The clone of Shield-Maiden and Catalina Liafador made certain to glance away if her crush noticed she was staring. She didn't want her to notice she cared more than she believed.

To make the last fifteen minutes easier for the gothic dealer and to keep her awake, Venilia lit the fuse. "Are we there yet?!" She asked obnoxiously, her tone loud enough to cause everyone to jolt in their seat. Someone was going to respond Juno just said fifteen minutes, her bet was on Reed. "We don't even know why we're going to this "getaway," and why did you invite th-" She bit her tongue, actually sort of thankful Juno chose these guys over the other guys at the Academy.

The Amazon was purposely trying to start trouble again, all so Juno could stay awake. She could have just talked to her, but the guys were in the back. They heard about the rumors, the ones about the two holding hands and making out in the back of the van. She also was still mad at Juno for everything, despite feeling whole around her. If anyone responded to her annoying behavior, she would become even more obnoxious. "I SAID, are we there yet?!" She whined louder than a child who didn't get what they wanted. "It's practically night and I really don't want to run into Ozzy's spirit!" Venilia pretended the illusionist had died by Mari, even though she knew he was sitting in the back. "This is the longest fifteen minutes in the history of fifteen minutes." She sighed loudly.

Reed's eyes were fixed upon the tablet that rested on the suitcase on his lap, the one that he had been mauling over for the last 15 minutes to excessively check the condition that his lab was in. Ever since the crisis that had gone down the in Academy, one of his newest fixations had been his laboratory that was temporarily abandoned by the group when they fled from Chaos' minions. He had been worried enough about the lab as it was, but when he found out that it had been left in the BFT with two complete strangers and an unspeakable evil, he nearly had a panic attack over it. The only other thing on his mind was Juno and her condition, the only other concern of his that would be at the forefront of his thoughts, something that would be enough to drive him to obsession.

It had been traumatizing enough for the scientist to have to make such desperate attempts to save the group when So-so had captured his lab, but that was the least of it. The situation and his mental state be made worse by the fact that his best friend had her arm sliced open and new staff that would ominously follow her wherever she went. He would glance at Juno and in turn the staff every now and then in order to update the status of them during the drive, only seeing that she was fine, much to his relief. The main reason in fact that he had even desired to go on this trip off of the school property is because Juno made him aware of it, and he was the one who was inclined to listen to what she thought was a good idea. That, and the fact that he had wanted to watch over her.

Despite all the events that went down recently, Reed would remain perhaps the most quiet of the group, a few passing glances being the most that he would do. Some of which would be directed at his new ally Will, and with it memories of the unsavory decisions that the genius had in order to save his life. He didn't know him quite well, but he wasn't one to let people around him die when he had the chance to save them at no greater cost, after all, he had been helping the rest of the crisis. Though he hadn't done a whole lot on the mission, the Red Jay seemed reasonable enough that Reed could trust him to a degree, maybe even call him something of a friend. A luxury that the Miniature Prodigy would rarely find himself having in his possession.

While his introverted nature was partially to blame, there was also the fact that he wasn't familiar with the vast majority of the "popular" students at the school. Namely Oz, the great illusionist. He was at best an acquaintance in Reed's eyes, bordering that of a neutral party in fact. The two had barely exchanged words with each other and not for lack interest on the nerd's part. It was just that Reed knew nothing about him beyond the limited information that he had received during the escapade with the other students and general rumors that he happened to hear about him. Either way, he would do his best to act "friendly" towards his new colleague. As this train of thought went on for a few more seconds, Juno would announce their current travel time, causing Reed to nod his head.

He would resume his analysis upon his the interior of his lab, when the final member of the group would vocalize their emotions, with enough vigor to get Reed to jump a little. "Are we there yet?" It would of course be none other than the Broken Warrior; Venilia. She was the only person in the van besides Juno that Reed had made up his mind about, and for good reason. From the moment that he met her, up until that afternoon, The Quantum Explorer, still couldn't figure out for all of his intelligence why she was there. Never in his entire life had he met someone quite as insufferable as she was, which meant a lot considering how many people that Reed had to deal with. Besides that, she didn't seem to care much for anyone besides herself, and her so called partner.

As she continued to whine for no apparent reason besides her own toxic nature, Reed would give Juno a tired look as he glanced her pale face in the rear-view mirror. The researcher was at a loss as to why Juno would put up with such a horrible person, from what Reed knew of her this was very much out of character. He knew Juno longer than anyone else in the van did, and the Gothic Dealer was not someone who was a fan of drama. So having someone who supplied it like an industrialized factory was something that had Reed puzzled for sure. The other matter that had him confused was why she allowed Venilia to treat her friends so poorly. Yes, they were business partners, but there were just so many things that she did which were unacceptable in the eyes of any average person.

All Reed knew was that he would need to have a serious talk about Juno's choice of relationships and why she was allowing when the time came. For now, he would just sit back and grimace at the blond sociopath's disgusting behavior. The last thing that Reed wanted was to escalate the situation any further. Rubbing his now burning eyes for a few seconds, Reed would glance at Will before leaning over and whispering to him. "Do you think she's going to stop any time soon?"
