Hi, I'm new here. Anyone wants to RP with me?
Certainly, first thing you want to do is fill in your bio so that people know who your character is. That way they'll have a good idea of how they can fit in with your character. A lot of people here run multiple characters, so often there's a case of "Oh, my character Jane really doesn't work with that guy, but my character Amy would be perfect." Giving people an idea of who you are can help them figure out what sorts of scenes will be the most exciting.
@phillip33: Welcome to the RPG forum! I'd start here. I'd suggest posting a bio of your character in some form (I do mine as blog posts, then add a link to it in SETTINGS so it shows up when someone clicks on "Show Bio"). Other than that, you can ask for RP, post in a location thread or ask to be a part of an ongoing RP. Really, there's countless ways to get involved.
@killbilly: Not really, no. Just place the post in the RPG section, then name it whatever you like. However, there is one thing you should know. The RPG section has two different universes people write in. One is called the CVnU, the other is called the CVU. Not much difference between them, but I tend to think of them as DC and Marvel. If there is any label at all, it's specifying what universe your RP takes place in.
@killbilly: Well, let's see if I can explain this. When the CVU was created, it carried over canon history from the CVnU. So, basically, it's a carbon copy. At least, it was originally. As more and more players started writing in it, however, it became it's own unique universe with different characters.
If is there one difference I could point out about then, though, it's this: the CVnU is more for street level heroes (but it does have higher tiers. But there is more of focus on streets). The CVU is more for higher tier heroes.
Are you familiar with the concept of alternate timelines? Think of the CVnU as the mainstream universe. The CVU branched off of it and became an alternative timeline. Make sense?
I recommend creating characters for both, that way, you have a greater range of people to write with.
Alright then, I have an idea for my character. A mute kid who is able to open up rifts in space time ( think portals from Portal ) due to being experimented on. He's kept in an underwater facility but, due to a security breach by one of the other experiments kept there, is able to escape and transport himself ( along with several tons of ocean water ) onto a crowded New York street. Then a random hero can respond to the situation and we go from there.
What do you think?
@paragonxxx: But would I post this in an existing RP ( like I see there's a "Seattle" thread for the CVNU so logically you think there'd be a New York thread ) or would I just create a thread of my own? I'm still a little confused on how joining/starting an RP works in this forum.
