The King of Orphans
The King of Orphans

massacre

The Origin

Erected some time around the end of the 15th century to serve as a suitable way-point for Portuguese slave-traders, the beach front fortification known as the "Kwazulu-Alcazar"(castle), was an enterprising success. Allowing the Portuguese to diversify as they're ambitious explorations along the coast afforded them exclusive trade routes in both spice and slaves. With the cooperation of two of the regions most influential chieftains; who as a profitable result of their disturbing allegiances, were allowed to expand their tribal rule, Portugal quickly established a strong presence in the southern cape. As their influence and power grew, so to did the keep.

Eventually sprawling over 700,000 feet of land, including the sacred burial grounds of the Geliefdes (Loved Ones). The holiest of sanctums shared and respected throughout even the most hardened of tribal rivals. This direct affront would eventually lead to one of history's great unknown slave revolts championed by a warrior tribe, a family. Whom had been the righteous and ceremonial custodians of the Geliefdes since before the Great Panther God had opened up the African plains. In the end the original Moorish castle was all but destroyed, but pieces of its foundation would later be used to build a new more technologically advanced Kwazulu Alcazar.

Thanks in large part to the Bengal Bashir's (Ali's great great grandfather) decision to unseal the regions Vibranium mines thus granting access to its moderated vein of precious metal. Marking the Kwazulu as a small yet indomitable coastal African bastion that would be handed down through generations of Bashir men. A holy site, with many from around the region make the daunting pilgrimage to pray at the alters and be baptized in the springs.

The Bashirs:

Once the chosen wardens of the False Bay, guardians of the Geliefdes, the Bashir's were a celebrated family of political prominence. Suggested cave paintings once illustrated a possible genetic link back to the Original Man ( a religious concept adhered to and practiced by the Bashirs & others). Molding the family into a folklore with intricate strands of historical fact woven in among the legecy. The sacred Bashir ethos is a fantastical tale of revolution, prestige, honor, and justice. With each patriarch of the family taking on not only the honored mantel of the False Bay warden, but the spiritual responsibilities of the Original Man (the panther god as adhered to by the Bashirs & others) and the protection of the tribes. A duty that has fallen squarely on the shoulders of the Black Republican as the last surviving member of the Bashir linage.

Kwazulu-Alcazar
Kwazulu-Alcazar

Polygonal poor-in-stone towers, remnants of the former Kwazulu Alcazar, comfortably rest at the corners of its outer enclosure with semicircular structures built in along the wall overlooking a man made watering spring. With its main panther inspired cathedral offering an ocean front view of majestic inspiration. Beyond the palace a stunning arcade gate permits heralded access to the sacred springs of the Geliefdes Grotto.

Further aristocratic appreciation of glamorous antiquity is effortlessly featured with African ivory mantels and hand mason tiles that culturally make up the foundation of the expansive rooms. Artisan doors open onto a landscaped wrap terraces ideal for alfresco dining, sunbathing, relaxing and looking at the gorgeous views of the False Bay. Unbelievably there seems to be more space on the inside rather than there would seem to be from the outside. Various angles curve the corridors into labyrinths, and the arrangement of rooms seemingly rearrange themselves. The Moorish castle hosts numerous items of ceremonial enthrallment as well as meditative & religious occultism.

Magnificent marble staircases upwardly spiral into an exclusive family gallery with six windows and the original domed ceiling. Authenticated portraits of the Bashir family lineage line the walls of the curved dome. Vacationed off the gallery is a spectacularly sculpted sky room which is wrapped in a sun-flooded room with contemporary wood burning fireplace.

One of the castle's main ascetic yet functional pieces, remains a vibranium sheath wall that make up the front facade of the building. While inside the main entrance, a large atrium with extensively restored statues and sculptures premiere a certain pursuit of excellence and historical achievement. Some of the antiquities, consisting of over 35,000 items, includes artifacts from the Nile civilizations which date from 4,000 BC to the 4th century. The collection overviews Egyptian life spanning from Ancient Egypt to the Middle Kingdom, the New Kingdom, Coptic art, and the lost Khoisan periods. Pieces from the ancient period include the Gebel el-Arak Knife from 3400 BC, The Seated Scribe, and the Head of King Djedefre. Middle Kingdom art, "known for its gold work and statues", moved from realism to idealization; this is exemplified by the schist statue of Amenemhatankh and the wooden Offering Bearer. The New Kingdom

and Coptic Egyptian sections are in deed deap.

The Castle's library present holds a number well into the 100,000. Books as well as around 800 currently received periodical titles and unearthed scrolls. This catalog includes rare drawings and exclusive manuscripts such as the Domesday book and the inventory of all Henry VIII's possessions at the time of his death. Even Vertue, 'The Gate at Whitehall' in Vetusta Monumenta Vol.1, 1747 (1826) One of the most aggrandized archaeological libraries in the World, it is home to an outstanding collection of wide spanning documentation and literature.

Regrets and remorse hung like a tepid pallor in the air. Nikoleta could feel them encroaching on her, even as she dealt with business from up in the air. The smooth mechanical whir of her chopper’s blades rotating cut through like a balm as she took phone call after phone call on the relatively short trip.

Olympus would survive under her managers for a very short while. She needed out of the city, if only for a day.

The anniversary was creeping up. She shouldn’t care. She kept telling herself that she didn’t. People were tools and weapons, and it had been ingrained in her long ago that her brother’s were her only allies. Her mother abhorred her very existence. She and her brothers had been forced to kill all those who had ever shown them any kindness to get themselves off that island.

But Kwazulu Alcazar had always held part of a heart that was otherwise stone cold, and she could feel the need for savagery and death building in her veins, and was yet unready to let it loose in Gothic.

And there were certain items, certain weapons….certain political attachments that would be fortuitous to her, all housed within the place she had spent so much of her childhood.

The sun was beginning to rise over the horizon as the copter touched down on the landing pad atop the roof of the ancient fortified castle. The mechanical whirring of the blades ceased, and she slipped her phone into the pocket of the flared peplum leather jacket as she disembarked.

The cool scent of ocean air whipped her wavy blonde hair around her face, and a part of her soul that she hadn’t fully realized was disrupted, settled.

Birds chirped as they flew over the ocean waves, diving for fish and flocking together as the heels of her boots clacked quietly over the sprawling rooftop.

Security would have alerted Ali to her impending arrival, and she expected him to surface at any moment. In the meantime, she offered a salute to Stefan, her pilot, and quickly headed for one of the towers, intent on descending into the ancient castle itself.

Ashley's caramel tinted eyes trace the magnificent palace overlooking the ocean. This was the final stop on a tour that was long overdue. Ashley, was the descendent of the Kingdom of Dahomey, the last known living link of the pre-colonial time. She'd spent the past days learning of her storied history, learning how to speak Fon, and being crowned a member of the legendary Ahosi, a fabled group of women that fought against the French.

That stop was personal, this was business. Her position on the world scale just shifted, she was no hero by far; but lately she was being pressed to make heroic decisions; if she was going to be this...hero; the mindset she adopted as a Cat Burglar or even a Mercenary wouldn't fit. No, What she needed was a complete mental overhaul, better conditioning--what she needed was direction.

Exiting her black on black Rolls Royce wraith, the Melenated beauty smoothed out the bottom of her multi-striped flare, before pushing toward the entrance to the fabled estate.

Kwazulu Alcazar, it's history as old as civilization itself; but in the modern day was well kemp, and sitting on one of the rarest metals known to man--Vibranium. It's care taker, the enigmatic, Ali Bashir. A diplomat amongst other things. She'd seen his picture plastered across a television screen once or twice, but hadn't actually gotten the chance to meet him.

As her slender frame cleared the pre-opened door, she moved in fixing her eyes on what was essentially a refurbished version of the old Moors Castle. Immaculately modern but it still maintained an archaic feel.

Entrance to the Geliefdes

In the cove of the False Bay, Ali peacefully sat on the beach in a properly postured 'sitting lotus' and meditated. Waves breaking against the shawl and the salt water in the ocean breeze, all served to tranquilly transport the Bashir Bishop to another place in time. A memory of another life, a beautiful nightmare that tormented his soul. Earlier that morning while under the supervision of a crescent moon, the obsessively observed routine of the King of Orphans had begun. Governing his diet and exercise before leading him down the side of his cliff based residence.

Absent rig or harness, rope or line, Ali had free-handed his descent down to the beach. A death defying feat, one in which his arriving guest's would soon be expected to endure. It was once a right of passage. Its goal to push the participant past the limits of physical taxation, forcing athletic adaptation and unwavering fortitude.

Up top; Kwazulu castle:

Strong elongated strides governed the forward progress of Ali's Beloved Ones, towering glamazon's tasked with his protection, as they marched to intercept the familiar Strix. They nodded but did not speak. Shoulder to shoulder in a human blockade that was purposely denying Nikoleta further entry.

"We wait." one of them sharply explained, shortly before a stylish caravan of luxury vehicles rolled up. And as the Last Dahomey gracefully exited, the hardened sentry's motioned for both ladies to follow. Leading them to the back of the estate and the ceremonial cliff. "Make dee climb. Damisa-Sarki--(the panther), awaits you aftah." both of the Bishop's warrior acolytes then turned towards the Rebellious Owl and nodded. They had seen her make the climb before as a youth alongside Ali and the rest of her siblings while their father's and mother's stoically observed in silent pride, and with un-achievable expectations.

After an hour of soul testing exertion and athletic accomplishment, Nikoleta and Ashley dropped the final few feet. Hitting the sand where Ali now confidently stood. The muscular definition of his crossed arms quickly eased before they opened wide to embrace Nikoleta. A sister in everything but blood. "Tis good to see you again little betoto (owl)."kissing her cheek with a joyous twinkle in his caramel hued eyes. Then drawing his social attention towards, what he considered to be, an honored legacy from the prestigious Dahomey bloodline. "Your highness." subtly tilting his chin down. "Please, if you would?" gesturing for the duo to follow him into the cove opening. Into the chamber of the Geliefds.

@nikoleta_strix: @ali_sani_bashir:

The amazon-like sentries snagged the Melenated beauties attention, both titanic in frame; they host a stunning darkened hue, skin so dark it glistened in the backdrop of the sun. Apparently on this day she was not the only guest to visit the esteemed estate, a white woman about the same size as her, blonde hair, frigid blue eyes, One thing Ash could tell for sure—this woman was younger.

Not caring to make conversation, she gave the woman a small courtesy wave, before following behind to a cliff. Hardly dressed for rock-climbing, Ash watched as the unknown woman took to the wall with ease. This woman knew everywhere her hands needed to be, and her feet followed shortly afterward.

Ash was no stranger to rock climbing in her own right, but in a dress—it was fairly difficult. As the two finally made it to the summit, her eyes immediately snap to the large framed male standing in broken isolation.

Physically, he looked to be in peak shape, though he exuded a patience that could make others uncomfortable. He had the voice signature that remained steady, but powerful enough to captivate an audience. This was the man that would give Ashley purpose.

Returning his greeting with a nod of her own, she tread lightly behind him; and his apparent associate with very little knowledge of what HE could want from HER—since she did seek him out.

Had she been moved through the States she probably never would’ve learned of its existence, the people of Benin; spoke highly of his exploits and diplomacy in the region. As it’s misplaced princess—she just had to see, but his request was peculiar.

“I apologize ahead of time,” She said, motioning to both Nikoleta and Ali. “But, I’m not exactly built for heroics or wars…none of that stuff really. You called me “your highness”, but I’ve been everything but that. If you desire my help fine"

"But I really can't help you, with the way I am now"
