Model: Illian Light Cruiser
Size: The ship is fairly small, relying on advanced weaponry and non-physical defensive measures to keep itself safe. It can comfortably hold about ten illian-sized humanoids, but is not a cargo ship and is not meant to be laden down.
Speed: Coasting space speed is 6**fh^0, which approximately equates to forty-six times the speed of light in human measurements. In atmosphere, it stabilizes itself at Mach 30 as a precaution against ecological damage.
Maneuverability: Its tails grant incredible stabilization, allowing the ship to move very freely. In the air, it resembles an insect or small fish. Displacement, limited Phasing, and Void Teleportation make the ship even more maneuverable in stressful situations.
Frills: Light cruisers are mainly for ambassadors and diplomats, and thus often serve as a home as much as they do a vessel. As such, it contains several furnished rooms, sufficient entertainment, and adequate sustenance for both illians and other lifeforms. This specific ship is also outfitted with a series of illian CosOcc tutorials, specifically an extensive, advanced course on the Void Soul style, installed by Vel'aaru herself.
Description: This ship, given to Vel'aaru by the illian governing body and lost almost immediately after, is a small ship designed to be piloted by only a single person. As evidenced by its unusual appearance, it is equal parts mechanical and organic, a sort of "living machine."
The ship is piloted by a "simplified" illian control panel, which can be accessed manually or through CosOcc equations at long range. As the illian people are still only experimenting with true artificial intelligence and are often too lazy to want to harness it, light cruisers have an intellect meter which can be raised or lowered, adjusting the amount of tasks the ship will perform autonomously. If this meter increases past 7^h2, the ship's intellect will increase to the point that it develops an ego, and creates a holographic avatar for itself. Most illians frown on this practice, considering it unkind to create a life form that does not truly exist.
While light cruisers are obviously not warships and do not share most of their capabilities, all illian vessels carry standard defensive measures and basic weapons. Enumerated, they are:
- Ral'das -- Torpedo-like missiles that create violent, though generally targeted and otherwise non-destructive, implosions.
- Light energy beams that resemble an oversized zarah'daz. They completely ignore inorganic material, allowing for precision defense without excess casualties or property damage.
- Disrupter cannons, simple offensive missiles that are often used either as a last resort, or to destroy structures.
- The ship itself, which it outfitted with a few limited, combat- and defense-oriented CosOcc maneuvers.
Its tentacles, while they appear more or less useless (and retracting when the ship is not moving) provide extremely precise stabilization and also allow the ship a primitive means of expression. These are frequently used to inform pilots and engineers that something is amiss, and university-trained illians are taught to read these signs.
Defensively, the ship's intellect plays a large part. Even limited though it is, it knows its rightful owners and will reject intruders with great abandon. Void Shields, Displacement, and a style of mental torture field not entirely unlike the belt around Illea itself, are its primary means of keeping itself safe.
