The Curse of Nhumrethaz (CVU Open RP; OOC)

Look upon my works, ye mortals, and despair...

"In time immemorial, the First Necromancer committed atrocities against humanity so vile that an entire nation disappeared because of them. Buried underneath the sands of the Libyan Sahara, he has slept for thousands of years, waiting for his time to rise again. That moment is soon."

Okay, so let's get started with summarizing just what the heck is going on with Nhumrethaz.

But who is he?

In the CVU canon, Nhumrethaz is the First Necromancer, and a powerful lich whose lust for power doomed the ancient civilization of Sjeshara. He has been sleeping in his underground citadel Nhumrethazzar for thousands of years.

Why is he so dangerous?

Nhumrethaz isn't just a powerful sorcerer (and an immortal one at that), he's also one of the Seats of Chaos for the Infernal Phalanx, meaning he is a beacon for all sorts of crazy stuff to eventually happen the longer he's awake and active.

What is his plan?

Well, he's actually more hungry for power than all the other Seats of Chaos combined. His ultimate goal is kept secret for right now for story reasons, but he wants to keep Earth for himself rather than let it be assimilated into the Phalanx war machine.

Can he actually be stopped?

Yes, and I plan on selling most everything that I find suitable in order for the story to progress.

I'm actually posting this about a month ahead of time so people can make plans, ask questions, all that sort of stuff.

This whole ordeal is going to be in two parts, the first RP is going to be more of a gathering of forces and information. The second is the actual fight and where all the hype is needing to be aimed.

So ask away and I'll do my best to be the Dungeon Master for this massive undertaking.

Highest power level I've got on a character right now is upper-street tier. Maybe if I haul ass and grind out what I need to before I can start some events of my own I'll be able to aim a corporation at you, but with my history here making any promises would just be an insult.

What's the ideal power level on this one? I'd like to join but I want to figure out which of my characters would be strong enough to have some impact and yet not boring. Most of mine are street tier, though, so I'm obviously gonna have to pack in some training time.

Good question! Ideally anyone other than, I would say, Silver Surfer level can potentially join. There will be a lot of things for street levellers to do and fight but ultimately I don't want molecule or cosmic energy manipulators subtracting from the overall threat level Nhumrethaz himself exudes.

Cool. I don't have anyone that powerful, so I'll just have to see, then. Might depend on if I'm joining with a team or going solo. I just don't want to bring in a street level and have nothing they can do, but if there are minions or whatever I don't mind being on minion detail while the upper tiers handle the big guys. Or I might have something more in a month, we'll see! Thanks!

@thisisgonnahurt: Eh, you'd be surprised the ways I find to be disappointing. But if there's a place for street levels I should be fine anyway. Worst-case scenario I jump in for part 2.

Actually, there are way worse scenarios than that, but we don't wanna think about those.

@thisisgonnahurt: If I end up in the RP, I'm sure I will. The simple answer to the problems I had before I left is to have a bit of self-control and only bite off what I can chew. By the time the RP is up, the school year should be almost (if not already) over, so I'd have to try pretty hard to waste enough time not to post consistently.

But yeah, I definitely do wanna do this. Larger RPs have always both attracted and scared me because I've always wanted to run one, but have kind of fallen into my old habits and let everyone down anytime I've tried. But things are different this time, cause I've got a strictly limited pool of characters to actually develop instead of tossing aside whenever a newer, more immediately attractive idea comes along.

You could train with Cailleach, she's very good at ice manipulation, and she is also an upstanding moral citizen.
