It will look how Marvel's New York looks like. I'm not familiar with DC's New York so I wouldn't know, but there will be obvious differences like the addition of the Baxter Building, Stark Tower, etc, which, obviously would never exist in DC's NY.

If you're a Marvel character, no. You'll be busy dealing with the sudden attack of mother nature. But chances are that you'll be hearing news of these mysterious cities that have suddenly appeared.

For the DC characters, I'm guessing they're probably "awakening" from their slumber.
